I’ve been using my QC for both guitar and vocals with my cover band. I use a separate pedal to send MIDI to the QC for song changes (a Walrus Audio Clock.) That let’s me only have 5 presets that cover different rigs (eg, a JCM setup, a Mesa setup, etc.) If I need to make a change to the outputs, or vocal chain I only have to update 5 presets. I put the gig view in split mode with scenes on top and stomps on bottom
This is great but I have a few problems:
- I can’t stand how scenes still show a button even if I have nothing assigned to that button
- There is a lot of UI that’s unnecessary on the screen at all times
- I feel like I’m wasting 4 buttons because I can’t see what state they are in and when I have a MIDI device changing stomp state, or if I want to add another midi controller to toggle these hidden blocks I can’t tell what’s set.
What I would like is a way to hide more UI, but show state for things even if they aren’t assigned to a button. I made some mockups of what I’m proposing:
Default, pretty much what it looks like now
New default state. Hides edit UI, hides unused scenes and stomps
New Edit Mode. Pressing edit button let’s you see all the tiles and buttons to move/copy things around.
New split mode state. This let’s you setup a single screen to that lets you have a middle row that let’s you easily see what’s toggled on in the row of stomps you can’t control. If my MIDI device turns on Vox Verb, I might have another MIDI pedal that let’s me control it but I can see it’s state on the QC.
What do you think?
