Two electric guitar and one microphone

A mic with an external preamp should work into a return. However, the return on the QC is an unbalanced connection, so, no TRS. Consequently, loss of noise rejection that a TRS cable would provide, particularly over longer runs.

Do you prefer your external mic pre? Curious, why you’re not just running your effects in via the QC’s send/returns? That would leave the balanced mic inputs on the QC available without requiring an external preamp. Also provides the flexibility to place your external effects anywhere you want in your signal chain.

I will have the Quad Cortex wired into a RJM MEG-X loop switcher: Input(s) 1 and 2 and Send(s) 1 and 2 are one loop, Returns 1 and 2 and Outputs 1 and 2 are another loop on the matrix loop switcher. The loops in between are the effects. This is always wired like this… or at least, this is a project, here is the complicated version I was theorizing, let’s pretend the 7CM is not there:

Here is the basic starting one:

Zoinks! That is some advanced routing, not to speak of some impressive signal flow diagrams. I think you’ve got this.

Thanks! I will post updates and pictures of the finished build. I will make sure that the reply is relevant to the current thread by having the microphone feature working and tested, but it will take some more time until I’m able to complete it.
