ALL THIS WORKS GREAT… OK, now let me paint a picture of my gig and get suggestions on what to use.
Picture this - There is a PA board, and my QC on a table in a room. Several feet away - the audience of about 100 or so are all standing up in a circle. On the backside of the audience maybe 30 feet away from the table - I am standing with my violin. I use an XVive wireless to send the audio signal to my QC.
HELP: What’s the best way to send my wireless bluetooth messages?
I saw someone use Flic 2 buttons to supposedly send MIDI
I would 3D print a plastic mount that I attach to my violin via the clamps used with a violin chinest. But instead of a piece of plastic (ebony) for your chin, I would have the buttons there. I would mount it towards the top of the body so my left hand can press them.
QUESTION: Are there other approaches to sending wireless MIDI?
I do not believe the Flic is “inherently” a MIDI message sender, but you have set up or configure or program it to do such. The “positive” side to Flic is that I can get 8 buttons, one for each scene and not have or not buy a device with too many buttons. The “negative” side is that not being inherently a MIDI device, there’s more work involved.
Any other MIDI controller devices that DO NOT or are not intended to be placed on the floor /ground?
I already plan to place the QC on a table next to the sound board, about 30 feet across the room from where I stand. Then -
I would ALSO place the Graviton M1 box on the table itself next to my QC.
I would connect the Graviton M1 to my QC via a cable (what type of cable - MIDI??)
THEN… I can non-destructively mount the XY or EC to my violin (or perhaps to a piece or plastic that I clip onto my belt) - so I can stand about 20 or 30 feet from the table where the Graviton M1 is, and transmit from the EC /XY to the Graviton wirelessly; which would in turn send MIDI messages to my QC
Correct???
I have already purchased the WIDI Master wireless MIDI jack device; I was hoping only to have to get something or a device to send MIDI message to the WIDI Master which is plugged into the QC; avoiding yet another piece of hardware.
QUESTION: Can the EC/XY send wireless MIDI by itself - or is its connection the Graviton and the messages it sends to the Graviton M1 proprietary?
PROBLEM: Now I have to also come up with power for the Graviton M1, correct?
FEEDBACK: Looking at the EC /XY - there’s no markings or lights on the knobs. So outside of me hearing that I’ve changed scenes on my QC; how could I tell or what feedback do I have from the EC /XY letting me know that a MIDI message was sent, or what scene I am using?
The m1 has bt midi. I would be nervous relying on bt over 30 ft. I would want to keep the M1 near me so I see when it registers a message. It may not be you solution or you may need to relax some requirements.
Pretty sure the limit for Bluetooth might be around 10 feet. I barely trust Bluetooth anyways, especially for during a show…seems crazy to rely on especially for a production like how is being described. Bluetooth can easily get messed up with other devices nearby.
Best idea is to go wired, or have a much shorter distance
