So, what is a transient - designer?
In short, it’s a device to control the steepness of transients (like, the initial moment when picking a string), independently of the actual signal level.
Unlike a compressor, which is reducing the level of a signal once it passes a defined threshhold, a transient designer uses an envelope follower to analyzes the steepness of an incoming signal.
Sooo useful for example to make a plectron-picked guitar sound like a finger-picked guitar.
