Support for External Dual Footswitch via EXP/MIDI Port on Nano Cortex

Hi Neural DSP Team,

I am a new Nano Cortex user and I am absolutely blown away by the capture quality and the portability of the unit. It is truly a game-changer for my “mini-pedalboard” setup.

I am writing to formally request a feature for a future firmware update: The ability to use a standard Dual Footswitch (TRS) through the EXP/MIDI port.

Currently, the Nano Cortex is an incredible “brain” for any rig, but its compact size naturally limits the number of physical footswitches. Adding support for an external dual switch (like the Hotone Ampero Switch or similar TRS dual buttons) would drastically improve its versatility by allowing users to:

  1. Bank Up / Bank Down presets without having to use the rotary dial.

  2. Toggle Effects: Dedicate the external switches to bypassing the Delay or Mod slot while leaving the unit’s main switches for Preset/Performance mode.

  3. Hands-free Control: Essential for live performances where we need to switch between clean and lead captures instantly.

Since the EXP/MIDI port is already TRS-capable, I believe this is a software-driven enhancement that would make the Nano Cortex the most competitive and flexible micro-modeler on the market.

Thank you for your hard work and for constantly pushing the boundaries of guitar technology!

**Best regards,
**

Great feature request.

Have you considered using a Boss EV-1-WL, they can be connected via a midi cable and can be expanded with a dual foot switch, to bank up/down. It’s what I currently use on my QC and works well for me.

"Thanks for the suggestion! The Boss EV-1-WL is indeed a powerhouse and I’ve seen it work wonders on Quad Cortex rigs. It’s definitely a solid workaround for those who already own one or need the extra expression control.

However, the core of my request is about portability and cost-efficiency. One of the main reasons many of us chose the Nano Cortex is to maintain the smallest footprint possible. Adding a MIDI-capable pedal (which requires its own power/batteries and a MIDI cable) feels like a step back for an ultra-compact setup.

My goal is to see a software-driven update that allows the EXP/MIDI port to read a simple, passive dual footswitch (like a $20 TRS switch). Since the port is already hardware-capable of reading voltage changes, it would be an incredible ‘quality of life’ improvement to have this natively, without the need for external MIDI converters or larger controllers.

I believe keeping it simple and affordable is what would truly make the Nano Cortex the king of mini-rigs!"
