Problem: Robot noise like a ring modulator while using QC as audio interface
Cubase 12
Windows 11
I select Quad Cortex as audio interface in Cubase
Play some guitar routing sound through any of the USB outputs
Sound starts off okay then becomes horrible robot noise, like a ring modulated kind of sound but worse. It comes and goes and then stays permanently on.
Selecting no audio driver and then reselecting QC temporarily fixes the problem.
Rebooting temporarily fixes the problem but it comes back quickly
QC is basically not usable as audio interface.
Please ensure you are using the most current ASIO driver: Version 5.58.0 - Aug 21, 2023
Also, I would test by changing to safe mode within the NDSP ASIO settings and or adjust your sample size until the artifacts go away. Worse case, email support@neuraldsp.com so that they can log the issue if necessary and or provide resolution.
There are multiple threads on here describing problems with USB audio.
The range of possible causes and solutions that I’ve read about are:
Old ASIO drivers → Update driver/use the official one
ASIO driver/DAW settings (wrong sample rate or buffer) → Sample Rate: 48kHz, increase Buffer and try Safe Mode when you have problems
USB Hubs or bad USB cables → try connecting directly to PC/Mac, try different ports and cables. In my case removing a USB hub switching the USB cable solved the issue.
PC/Mac specific settings like power management. → try to switch performance /power saving modes, try different devices.
Faulty QC Hardware → If nothing helps maybe it really is a faulty unit and you need to talk to NDSP support.
So there isn’t one guaranteed solution, but these are some things you could try.
Hello
Thanks a lot for your answer
I tried all of these recomendations but unfortunately nothing solved the problem for me =\
Maybe previous ndsp drive is a bit better but I could be wrong.
I also tried a usb cable to usb directly
Different daws
Different usb outputs in the QC
Update bios of my computer
Check usb diagnostic in the QC
As everyone has stated so far, there are multiple variables and isn’t one guaranteed solution. Have you tried an alternate PC to test with? It could be your PC’s resources assuming you have investigated all the suggestions above?
Hello
My laptop is a dell XPS with intel core i9 and 64Go of ram
CPU consumption is very low when I am experiencing those glitch
I don’t see why my laptop could cause this kind of things
I feel pretty confused to experience issues like this with a 1.7k euros audio interface, it should be running like a charm
I would suggest testing with an alternate PC that way you could at least eliminate a potential hardware issue and or pinpoint some specific setting(s) with your PC.
i have the same issue when i used it with ipad. i also noticed, it was an issue if i would accidentally bang the table that the usb hub connected to qc was on. i narrowed it down to a bad usb cable connection to the hub. also it was resolved after i changed the usb cable. this issue for me was completely resolved until i updated to coreos 3.0. This robotic sound came back literally the next day after the update. though unlike previously i had to restart qc every time to get rid of this glitch, this time its different. sometimes it goes away in like 2-3 seconds but once in a while it stays and requires a restart. this is soo frustrating considering the amount i paid and whole setup feels unstable because of it. rn i have qc on my pedal board which uses ipad for some effects with loopy pro running on it. its not possible for my setup to not use a hub as i also connect midi captain to send midi to ipad along with guitar and vocals to ipad.
