Hi everyone, there is a kind of fade out fade in effect when switching between presents. Is anyone experimenting that too? Was like this before update 2.0?
I have the same thing.
OK, now I know I was not going crazy, as I had similar thing happening. I found that if I step on the switch too hard or press a little too long, I experience this slight sound cuts or drop outs. If I do a quick and very light tap on the switch, the unit works fine. I now use an external midi switching device (M-Wave Chocolate or Boss ES-5), problem solved.
I use also a external switching device ( m- vave chocolate ) but I still have this small gap any suggestions?
NDSP said that this last update introduced a 60 ms gap when switching presets. Before the update, it was gapless. Supposedly it´s because of the added flexibility in effects. This is what they state in the FAQ section of the web:
Are there gaps when switching Presets?
With NanOS 2.0.0, Nano Cortex now introduces a very short audio gap when switching Presets. The gap is minimal, typically around 60 milliseconds, and will not interrupt delay or reverb trails, which continue naturally between Presets. This change allows for greater flexibility in the signal chain and makes room for new features and devices introduced in NanOS 2.0.0.
Can I go back to older version? For me is s pain for live use…
The 60ms gap is big deal! When switching to a lead or different tone now all signal is cut! How could this have made it into the release? I thought the nano was created for live players so they can have a portable rig? Is this supposed to be a desktop studio tool instead? I love the tones and the capturing but this is a really big deal when switching live.
Neural can you respond directly to this. I see allot of people with the same issue?
NDSP open a section in forum for features requests, say in a post that NC is a platform, etc, etc, but the moderators (for their answers) seem to know nothing about ndsp plan in make the requested features. So, there is some conflict in informatios. I got NC (04-29 after 2.0) with the information that it will be improved more. They don’t answer our questions in their forum, we have some problems that only emerge in specific situations e can only be solved in futures upgrades but we don’t get any answer (!?). It’s like some elected politicians that think there is no need to answer their voters questions. I think this kind of communication is bad. If I knew before, had not bought their product.
If the main usage of your product is for live performance and you add an update that makes playing live a nightmare. You would think they would respond to the users and give an estimate of a fix or a workaround for the solution. For now I ended up removing the nano from my live rig and went back to analog pedals. Really bummed they would push a defect to the public and not provide a workaround or an estimate. This is extremely poor customer service. The lag is way to long and cuts of the sound. Thats a big deal.
Hey Neural can you respond to this? Please don’t provide the cookie cutter answer and actually read the question.
I found, that when tapping the Footswitch in a way the knob rotates slightly it causes this problem.
The solution I found:
“To turn off the rotating function of a footswitch on the Neural DSP Nano Cortex in Live Mode, you need to engage the Parameter Lock feature. This is achieved by holding down the EXIT button for 3 seconds. This will temporarily disable the rotary function of knobs and footswitches, preventing accidental parameter changes while performing. To exit Parameter Lock, press and hold the EXIT button again for 3 seconds.”
Hope this helps
I do this too for live. Makes the presets write protected. I still have the gap switching presets. Neural do you read these posts? Can you respond when we will have a fix for this? Would be nice to know this will be fixed in the future. Im starting to look toward other products for live. Please respond @neuraldsp
I don’t recall seeing the option to make the presets write protected. Can you clarify how that is setup. Thx
They don’t read or do they read and ignore?![]()
Holding down the Exit button for 3 seconds puts the nano cortex in write protected/lock mode. Any changes made do not get saved and moving the knobs do not do anything in this mode. That way if you press a button and your foot spins the dial on the button it does not change any settings. But the delay switching amps is still there.
Neural can you answer this question? When will a fix be available to fix the mute when switching channels? This seems like it should be a high severity ticket due to the functionality changing and not warning the customers when they update.
I have the same issue. Also after updating to 2.1.0. The last updates are great, especially the CC messages, but this dropout in signal is ruining the fun. This wasn’t an issue with the initial firmware. At least for me. I hope that this is just a SW/FW bug and not HW constrain.
If you use midi cc and just switch on and off effects there is no more gap, but I agree, it would be great, if it wasn’t there, when switching presets, too
Hi everyone. I must say, I am very disappointed with the new update… I was expecting the gap to be remove… yes great new features but I bought a device that wasn’t having gaps between presets and suddenly they updated and we get and downgrade…. I really don’t understand. I am really thinking to sell it because it’s destroying my gigs moments always afraid to not calculate perfect timing to toggle the switch… I would like to know if they are at least considering this issue or at least go back to the first version which at least for me was more than enough….
Yes but in my case I am changing drastically sounds like amps cleans and distortions…I can only spare one preset and add delay and volume boost with the cc midi change. Or small variations within a clean preset but no between clean and dist.
I just bought one. Didn’t take it out of the box yet, and it’s going back. Neural should respond to these things if they want to make this product successful for the long term.
Please let us know if the gap is being worked on.
Its been a while Neural. Any word on the gap switching presets. This is a big deal. How can you play live shows with it like this? Would be nice if you could give an update to this. The email I received from you guys was really vague. I still own the Nano in hopes this will be fixed. Maybe put up a vote of users of features over usability. Kinda messed up everything was working great until a “patch” was applied. Super frustrated. How is this not a product defect with status so that owners can see when or if this will be fixed.
Neural can you respond here not in an email? Hello!
