I have multiple Quad Cortex units and like them a lot. I recently purchased a Nano and I’m disappointed with it. I can’t get gapless switching between presets even using the same amp on them. I have captured my Quad Cortex and the captures never sound like the source. They have more low end, more gain and more top end. I don’t have a noisegate on or effects on when I’m capturing and my levels are all good. Idk, I was hoping to use the Nano as a backup or let other people play thru it when we have band practice. Any suggestions?
What is your process for capturing the Quad Cortex? Which interface(s) are you using and how do you set it up (e.g. mics/load box, reamp box etc)? I have successfully captured multiple plugins and other multi-FX / pedals with both the QC/Nano without issue and the differences (if any) have been minimal. Usually more gain and more EQ equates to possible improper gain staging somewhere along the signal line etc.
I’ve captured with QC and had good results. I am going straight in and out of my Quad to the capture in and out on the Nano.
Regarding the gap while switching presets, from the FAQ section of the web:
Are there gaps when switching Presets?
With NanOS 2.0.0, Nano Cortex now introduces a very short audio gap when switching Presets. The gap is minimal, typically around 60 milliseconds, and will not interrupt delay or reverb trails, which continue naturally between Presets. This change allows for greater flexibility in the signal chain and makes room for new features and devices introduced in NanOS 2.0.0.
Why would you capture the Quad Cortex with the Nano? Just load the capture onto the Nano or am I Not understanding what is trying to be achieved?
I’m capturing the QC so I can get a drive pedal, amp and cab all in one capture. I’m using an amp and cab that isn’t in the Nano. I’ve done it from one of my QC’s to the other and also from my Axe-FxIII and it worked ok.
I really dont think this is good use of captures. I always think of the gsme “telephone” we played in school. Where you start with a word. And whisper it to the person next to you and it goes aeound in a circle until it gets back to the person who started. Always was something much different than the initial word. Or like making copies of copies in analog realm like vhs. Copies of copies almost always degrade. Also frustrating having the cloud full of captured kemper profiles and vst plug ins.
I hear ya. I don’t post mine so no clutter from me.
