Routing experts - QC as a stereo FX processor

Hi all,
I have recently picked up the Two Notes Reload II loadbox/attenuator and it comes with a stereo FX loop.
As I have my stereo FX pedals in my QC loop, I want to be able to use this when playing with my amps and cabs.

The set up I have done is to go from the Reload II FX ‘send’ to the QC Input 1/2, and then the QC Out 3/4 to the Reload II ‘return’.

This does work however the issue I have is that I am getting a ‘phaser’ type effect.

The QC grid row is completely empty and this occurs.

I can turn down the Input 1/2 at the start of the row to -24db (off) and this removed the phasing effect however the tone is impacted.

The suggestion from NDSP is to use TRS balanced cables for all these connections as I am currently using TS instrument cables.

Could this be it?

I feel like it’s the way the signal is routing through causing additional dry signal?

To note, I have tried using the XLR DI output from the Reload II into the QC In 1/2 (selecting mic input) and this behaves correctly and everything sounds right.

Not sure why it wouldn’t be the same with the first method?

Any thoughts would be helpful! I can go purchase 4 x TRS cables however before I drop $ I want to check if any further ideas. Cheers!

You do not need Trs cables for this. Those wouldn’t change the effect you’re having. If there is a phasing sound it would more likely be something in your chain is out of phase from latency with the QC.

Make sure you have the mix level for the effects loop in the Torpedo at 100%, and that the routing of your QC is correct. A TS vs TRS cable issue wouldn’t cause this.

Agreed with the SelfTitledLP’s response. Check to make sure your mix level on the Reload II is at 100%.

I wanted to ask separately, how is the Reload II? Theoretically you can use it purely as a power amp since it has two line-level inputs. Have you tried this with the QC to power a physical speaker cab (and does it sound good)? All of the marketing for this product shows off its attenuation capability, but no one is talking about the power amp.

are you panning any outputs?

Thank-you all, ugh…can’t believe I didn’t think of this. Yes, I did indeed have the Reload Loop set to it’s middle position for dry/wet. This is how the manual diagram had showed it.

I’ve turned the knob to fully wet and now we are in business! No phasing issue and tone sounds idential when swtiching the FX loop on/off.

Only thing I have noticed is that my FX are sounding louder at their OG positions so may have to just play with the QC output level slightly.

I am also getting a quiet high pitched noise when the loop on the QC is on. It’s very quiet and not noticeable when playing though.

RE: Reload poweramp - this will definitely be my next test! It definitely sounds great through my amps so have high hopes using it with my QC models/captures.

One of my favorite things about the Reload is the Depth/Presence control per channel/cab.
I have one cab elevated and one on the ground against the a wall so I can dial in some extra fatness and presence per cab to get things sounding better.
