Request being able to select any/all dry input directly in DAW. As well as wet outputs

I would like to be able to use the QC as a true sound-card on a PC. This would be in a live concert or rehearsal context.
I am new to the QC, so maybe I’m missing something. But as I understand it, there are 4 possible physical inputs (input 1/2, and return 1/2); However, you can not record all 4 of those dry inputs simultaneously and record 4 wet signals as well.
Specifically, I would like to record two dry vocals (DI XLR inputs 1 and 2) and 2 guitars (Return inputs). But on the guitars, I would like to record both dry inputs (DI for later re-amping purposes) and both stereo wet signals (both guitars with amps, cabs, and FX).
Thus, a total of 8 channels : all 4 dry/DI inputs + two stereo pairs of wet guitars, which I thought I would be able to do when researching the QC before purchasing.

I have found a work-around by routing Return 1/2 to row 4 and outputting row 4 to a stereo USB output to obtain a DI signal there. However, it’s a bit of a shame because I then have to sacrifice a whole row just to get a DI signal on those two inputs.

So… my suggestion for the next update, would simply be to add some kind of way to get Dry/DI Return 1 and 2 signals into a DAW without having to use my work-around and sacrificing a row.

Perhaps just adding 4 more USB outputs with each of those being the 4 dry inputs ?

Unless some solution already exists that I haven’t found yet ?

Hope my request is comprehensible !

Yes, this would be really useful! When creating complex presets (e.g., with multiple, diverse scenes), I still try to leave one row free to be able to record the direct input signal. Being able to route the input directly to a USB channel would open up all four rows to do more interesting things.

Hello and thanks for your response to my post !
Yes, I was quite disappointed when I realized this could not be done any other way …
However, it seems to only be a problem when you are using all 4 inputs simultaneously, and specifically with inputs 3 and 4 (returns).
On inputs 1 and 2, you can get a dry signals without having to use the grid or a row. The user manual is a little hard to understand, but you have to fiddle with the USB I/O settings to decide how you want DRY/WET to be routed on USB outputs 1/2 and 3/4. It’s on page 2 of the USB I/O settings.
So if your using inputs 1 and 2, you don’t have to sacrifice a row to get your dry signals.
However, unfortunately, for my usage, there is no such option for return inputs 3 and 4.
Hope this will help you if you are not necessarily using inputs 3 and 4.

Excellent, I did not know that! Also, I never looked at the manual until now. Yes, USB outputs 1/2 are the dry QC inputs 1/2. So glad you made me realize this so that I can feel free to use all four rows without worrying about leaving room for DIs. Thanks!

Glad I could help ! You’re welcome !
