Noob one. I need to clarify some matters, I am almost sure but I need to double check with you. Currently, I am using an Fractal AX8 unit, together with an Focusrite Solo 2nd gen, a laptop and 2 Tannoy studio monitors. My flow is guitar → Fractal → Focusrite → laptop / Tannoys. I want to buy an QC unit and as I understand I wont need an audio interface like Focusrite because is build in in QC. Will I still be able to record wet/dry signals in the same time and separetely ? How would I output my monitors? Direcly from QC? Is there’s any CONS using the build in QC audio interface? Thank you so much!
Via USB from the QC to your laptop you will have 8 separate channels to a DAW. Inputs 1 and 2 have their own DI signal sent thru USB, so you can record separate DI and wet signals in many different configurations.
The only drawbacks I can think of is that you’re locked at 48kHz sample rate and you only have 4 hardware Inputs. You won’t be able to capture plugins, for that you need an external interface.
If you can live with that you should be set.
What is your current setup DAW and computer-wise? Some seem to have incompatibilities/difficulties with certain combinations.
Your monitors can be connected to the QC outputs, yes.
Hey, Mark…and thank you for the detailed reply.
I am not sure about what you did ask me about my DAW’s config but I attached an image.
I can keep my audio interface or I can buy a new one (if you have an recommendation) but would it be some drawbacks using the QC WITH the audio interface? Many thanks!
