Quad Cortex Power Supply Recommendations

I’ve been running off of the Cioks DC7 for about a year now no issues. you have two options with it. Get 3 of the current doubler adapters and you “y” them out so you can pull power from 4 ports on the DC7, OR, get a Crux with it and you just run it off of that. I’ve done both and it’s a happy camper power wise.

If you are looking to power your QC on a pedalboard, not just standalone, here is some price/feature info on 3 popular power supply brands that can power the QC and have primarily 500mA outputs…

Walrus Canvas HP $229 MAP, 3A output for QC, 3 isolated outputs + external transformer
Pros: 3A QC output equals OEM PS output
Cons: only 3 isolated outputs for other pedals, external transformer box requires more space under or on the board

CIOKS DC7 $289 MAP, 2A for QC requires 4 (of 7) 500mA @ 12V outputs, 3 more isolated pedal outputs, direct IEC plug
Pros: direct IEC plug keeps install config simple, all outputs have switchable voltage 9/12/15/18
Cons: More expensive than Walrus or VooDoo, only 3 isolated outputs for other pedals after using 4 outputs for QC, 2A QC power less than OEM PS (but independent testing shows QC max power requirement is only 1.8A so it will work fine)

CIOKS DC7 $289 MAP + Crux $89 MAP for powering QC, 7 isolated outputs, direct IEC plug
Pros: direct IEC keeps install config simple, 7 isolated outputs for other pedals, all outputs have switchable voltage 9/12/15/18
Cons: WAY more expensive than Walrus or VooDoo (+$150), additional Crux box requires more space under or on the board, 2A QC power less than OEM PS (but independent testing shows QC max power requirement is only 1.8A so it will work fine)

VooDoo Lab Pedal Power 3 $229 MAP, 2A X-link output for QC, 8 isolated outputs, direct IEC plug
Pros: direct IEC plug keeps install config simple, 8 isolated outputs for other pedals, 2 outputs have switchable voltage 9/12, everything self contained in the unit so no external box or transformer
Cons: 2A QC power less than OEM PS (but independent testing shows QC max power requirement is only 1.8A so it will work fine)

MY RANKING (but they are all good):

  1. VooDoo Lab - Low price, built in transformer & IEC cord, 8 isolated pedal outputs, 2A QC power is adequate
  2. Walrus - Low price, 3A output for QC, only 3 isolated pedal outputs, external transformer to manage
  3. Cioks + Crux - Very high price, built in transformer & IEC cord but Crux adds another box to manage, 7 isolated pedal outputs, 2A QC power is adequate
  4. Cioks (NO Crux) - High price, built in transformer & IEC cord, 4x500mA into 1 for QC power is complicated leaving only 3 isolated pedal outputs, 2A QC power is adequate
