I’m using the 8 switches to switch on/off specific blocks and need to add two more but it looks like there’s no chance to do it.
I checked many past discussions about the same subject and want to check if anything has changed in the meanwhile.
Please don’t suggest me workarounds consisting in different uses like using scenes, I know about them as this is not delivering what I’m looking for.
@SelfTitledLP sorry, I probably was too quick: when you say “…there isn’t anything different about the midi…” you mean there is a way to assign a midi command to switching an effect block on/off?
That is exactly what I’m looking for!
Not as a hack to add more block control. You might be able to engage a Wah block with an expression pedal, but I don’t think you can assign the switch to control more blocks. Nothing has changed much with midi control and block behavior (for what you want) in years. Aside from the ability to make a switch momentary
How so? Why two? You can use one XP pedal with a foot switch to control bypass on two blocks (one with the switch and one with pedal sweep).
Also, you should be able to use two external foot switches into the EXP inputs to control bypass on two (sets of) blocks if you don’t need expression control. Something like the Hotone FS-1 for example (you would need to split the TRS into 2x TS). I haven’t tried this, but it should work.
because to press the switch you have to move the pedal; the 2 would never really be totally independent and separate unless you have the world’s most accurate and sensitive foot
Ah, true . It might work in some specific scenarios (where you’re using the sweep only when the switch is active or something). But you’re right. They aren’t independent when on the same pedal.
I stumbled on this discussion, which is referred to a Nano Cortex, which seems to be able to get control via midi.
Wouldn’t this be valid for the QC as well?
I understand you are using the existing 8 footswitches on the QC in stomp mode to switch on/off 8 blocks but you need to control more than 8 blocks…
You can control the 2 Expression input (continuous or on/off) via physical external expression pedal or external dedicated footswitch OR also via midi CC#1 and CC#2 - if you have an external midi controller, maybe this can be of use for activating/bypassing two blocks (I have not tried it myself).
If you are not currently using scenes at all in your preset and you have an external midi controller, you can also control at least one more block on/off using scenes A and B. Of course scenes being mutually exclusive, you cannot create any on/off combination because only one scene is active at a time but it can give you at least one more block. This is possible because from the doc, I see that the QC scene can be changed from an external midi controller using CC#43 while you are still in stomp mode. Again I did not try this.
I do wish the QC had a more elaborate midi control scheme.
I may have misunderstood your point, but I’ve used an Airstep Lite with my QC, but admittedly only to control the looper functions. Looking at the QC manual I can’t see midi messages which turn individually blocks on and off. (I’m no midi expert, it’s been a voyage of discovery just getting the Airstep working with my QC!!)
