This development update is late, and CorOS 3.1.1 has not been released within the timeframe we communicated. We said we anticipated a June release; that was a sincere estimate based on the information we had at the time. Unfortunately, during the final stages of testing, we encountered issues that required more time to resolve than expected. When we didn’t release in June, and we failed to follow up promptly, it led to understandable frustration and disappointment.
We’re sorry.
We know how important these updates are to you; not just the CorOS update itself, but the communication, the consistency, and the feeling that progress is being made. When we fall short of those expectations it erodes trust. That’s not acceptable to us.
Rather than rush a release or share incomplete information, we chose to focus on fixing the problem. But we should have told you that sooner, and more clearly.
CorOS 3.1.1 is still coming, and we’re in the final stages of preparing it for release (it’s already in beta). While it isn’t a headline update, it is a crucial one. Once it’s behind us, we’ll be able to return our full attention to what comes next; CorOS 3.2.0, which is also close to completion.
We’re incredibly grateful for the support, honesty, and patience you continue to show us.
There was a user thread talking about frustrations specifically regarding these late updates with many posts from users talking about frustrations with the QC that seems to have been deleted. I understand you guys are sending out the update now but why would you delete that thread?
It was definitely intentional. And imo the right decision.
If they had named a new date or time frame and the next unexpected problem occured, we’d be back to another round of disappointed users venting their frustration (and understandably so).
The news is that there were problems, they’re still at it and 3.1.1 is in beta. Which means it may come soon, but don’t hold your breath.
I think that’s everything the majority of users here wanted to hear.
Since the other thread has been censored, I cannot double-check. But I understood you’re not using the QC anymore so I am surprised that you still post here. But no worries I might have misunderstood.
Thank you for the honesty and actually communicating!! Please please please keep communicating. Hopefully things will get back on track SOON!! And all the kinks worked out!
Still not sure why I can’t be interested in the news regardless of the last time I used a QC.
I was just confused as to why the previous thread was deleted; For example usually when there is a solution to a problem in a thread (such as providing a development update per user requests) it is marked as such and the history is preserved so other users can leverage that information more efficiently. In this situation neural decided to delete the thread entirely after they implemented the solution. Just a hunch but the user opinions in that thread probably had a large influence on neural actually releasing this development update. What if they prematurely deleted that thread just because it was unfavorable? We may have never seen this development update at all…
It’s just strange for me that you keep posting in a forum for a modeler you do not use anymore. I would not spend time in a Line6 forum telling people how good the Quad Cortex is. But of course, feel free to hang around, no offense please!
Thanks for the Update.
It’s kinda weird the other thread got deleted, but it wasn’t productive anyway. Just a “i wanna cry because there are things missing” thing. Better way would have been to just close the thread - for transparency reasons.
Good to hear this announcement. From a customer relationship standpoint, I think making an official apology was a difficult decision.
We love this product and the company, and understand that it is run by a really limited human resource.
(Reading the deleted topic…
But honestly, it has been a bit frustrating for me that no announcement, no update and recieving tons of plugin related mails and SNS notifications on my phone.
What I (or we) want is, bug fix, some new amps or effects, improvements on the UI.
I really liked the new wah pedal on CorOS3.1.0.
I think continuous small improvements would be enough for QC fans.
I’m thinking of buying a second QC with new ESS codec, that is said to use less current.
Right now QC is the best for me, and expecting for NDSP.
Maybe, just maybe they should have let that thread ride. I totally understand why they didnt mention any new dates. That was one of the things I tore into them about in the deleted thread. As for them saying that “Its already in beta” Yeah it was in beta before you discovered the new issues. Its been in beta. No new news. I appreciate the apology. I dont appreciate tearing down information just because it doesnt paint them in the most positive light. There was nothing positive to say. So whats an apology if you erase the history that sparked the frustration that led to the need to apologize?
You want to know why I dont contact neural directly? Because you cant call anyone and when you put in a support ticket it may get answered. It may not. It took a long time to get my original cortex from broken to half fixed and then they sent out the unit and they lost it for a week. And when I asked what they did to it they just said “we put a new screen in”. Still wasnt right and had to get replaced.
And when I show that the internals are completely revamped in my unit no can explain why. Older units look like old tech inside. Units made in 2024 look like an engl amplifier. Everything is nice clean and tidy with significant changes to major components and wiring looms. If it didnt say neural inside and come from the dealer I would question its authenticity its so different. They announced the ess codec that will be installed in units made AFTER august of this year. But significant hardware and board changes took place between 2023 to now with zero explanation. You dont even have to take the cover off. You can shine a light through the vents and see how different it is. Take a look in the bottome vent. Which does yours look like? Which one do you think looks more professionally made? And do you think a change like this should have been made public?
I feel like you’re obsessing over some stuff that doesn’t really matter haha. Tons of gear companies have adjusted how certain products are made through products life cycle, ideally to improve them. This is anything from analog pedals, to digital stuff like the QC.
Even the OCD pedal went through a ton of changes through the years and those weren’t ever advertised until people started opening them up to see what version they even had. Literally tons of Marshall amps have totally different parts depending on region they were sold, or the year they were made. Most of that wasn’t ever advertised whatsoever. They had different tubes, adjustments to component values, adjustments to the circuit, etc. Peavey claimed the 6505 series was the same as the 5150, but they had adjusted some component values that they didn’t advertise. Let alone changing where the amps were manufactured, etc.
In the situation of Neural the QC’s all sound the same and run the same software, so its improvements of how it’s made. Just be glad they’re trying to improve the design and adjust to certain parts being available. That stuff is always shifting.
You’re kinda acting as if them adjusting the internal build of the QC will affect you in any way haha. It’s not like they’re giving those units better amps sims or anything.
