CorOS 3.1.0 is the next major update scheduled for the Quad Cortex. As we reach the final stages of development, we wanted to give you an overview of what you can expect in CorOS 3.1.0
What’s coming in CorOS 3.1.0?
New devices
CorOS 3.1.0 will include the following new devices for all users:
I must say i’m a little bit disappointed by the lack of content in this update (except for paid Plugins users, of course.) and the lack of ‘quality of life’ improvements (there’s a LOT of room in this area, and some low hanging fruits that begin to rot, tbh)
Ndsp brag about TINA beeing able to create new amps in several hours, but fail to deliver new amp since August 2023 (CorOs 2.1) for everyone …
For what it’s worth, I’ve had previous comments deleted too and I figured I could either rail against it (which would have done no good) or I could learn from it. I’ve moderated my responses to be more in line with standards of the forum and admittedly, my experience here got better. That’s just my (admittedly unasked for) experience and YMMV.
On another note, and in no way directed at you (or anyone for that matter) specifically, SW development takes time. Previous promises (current dev) and bug fixes (QA dev) take resources before new feature development does. I get that you (again the collective and not you specifically MGORN) are frustrated, and I get that it likely comes from you wanting the QC to be as utterly kickass as it can be, but NDSP has limited resources for SW dev with current priorities that might not be immediately obvious to everyone.
I’ve taken the POV that new dev releases are a bonus I get for free, and it changed how I view them. I’m excited for the new features I’ll be getting with this update and I’m kicking myself for choosing Rabea as my free plugin. I was thinking Rabea X being ported was how I was going to get any kind of synth block to play with, and here they are making the Meatbox part of a free update outside of PECOM. I maybe should have gone for the SLO100, but that’s on me.
I’m very concerned that new amps are only going to be available after all of the current plugins have been ported with their amp profiles so they don’t step on the potential revenue stream plugin sales to current QC owners might provide. Seeing this new synth block gives me hope that’s an unfounded fear so I’m willing to wait it out to see. I’ve got more than enough tones in the current box to keep my smiling for a long while.
The DOD Meatbox isn’t really a synth per se; it’s basically an octave pedal that can buzz like a square wave from a synth when pushed hard enough. I’m looking forward to it, but it’s definitely not the same as the Rabea synth.
the 2 octavers we’re getting are similar (possibly the same) to the Gojira Octaver, so this reinforces the fact that they’re not putting all plugin devices behind a paywall. They’re also, arguably, ‘bass-centric’ so bassists are finally getting a little attention again.
The wah being introduced is from the ‘initial release list’ so they are still working on those announced-but-not-released devices from long ago.
The updated devices (2 amps) may be reworked versions from TINAs improvements. So it’s likely TINA is being used to bring upgrades to already released amps, which would also be good progress.
" Soldano SLO-100 X and Fortin Nameless Suite X are coming in CorOS 3.1.0, and the next major update after CorOS 3.1.0 will include Parallax X and Archetype: Nolly X. "
Not sure if my pov is a bit weird, but when I look at the DOD meatbox alone, the pedal has a price tag way above 100$.
If I get a good model of this and other units in a free upgrade, it’s quite a good value.
Yes I know, the QC is not cheap (at all) but for me a free upgrade is a free upgrade and I’m quite happy with it.
Of course, this does not mean that the QC should not be improved further (according to the communities feature request for example).
So it took 8 weeks to get two more plugins out, of course not the one I got free or the two I bought and which you’ve had my money for months. The leaves 13 more to go is it going to take a 13 months to get them all out? And again no improvements to way too limited MIDI functionality?
