As we enter into a new year, we wanted to provide you with an update on the outstanding projects that we’ve been diligently working on: Plugin Compatibility (PCOM), ‘X’-updating plugins, and Cortex Control.
Cortex Control and the accompanying CorOS 2.3.0 are both finished. Their final builds were tested extensively over the holidays, no new issues were found, and therefore we will be releasing both later today.
‘X’-updating our plugins, where we add global features like Transpose and the Doubler, is also progressing well. Many plugins are in different stages of completion depending on their age and complexity. Archetype: Gojira X will be the next free update we release. It is already in beta testing and we are aiming to launch it on January 10th.
We are working our hardest to release PCOM in Q2 this year. We’ll do our best to keep you updated on this process, but as we’re approaching the end of the project, most of the work concerns sensitive items that we cannot share many details about.
For the sake of clarity, releasing new plugins does not impact the speed at which either ‘X’ updates or PCOM will be released.
Thank you, sincerely, for your patience. We are sorry that PCOM has taken so long, but we know that you’re going to absolutely love it.
Well… 2.2.0 added nothing new on the QC itself (except the ‘famous’ laggy/low fps tuner issue) , it was a necessary update in order to be compatible with Cortex Control.
I really hope that 2.3.0 will finally bring some new features/devices on the QC , and not only minor things/fix in order to be Cortex Control compatible… The last real ‘content update’ was 2.1.0 and it was a pretty modest one, considering that 7 months elapsed since 2.0.0 (January 2023 → August 2023)…
Some (totally wild and purely speculatives) predictions :
option to stop the ‘auto footswitch block assignement’
scene will be color-assignable (the same way stomp mode is color assignable)
Laggy/Low FPS mode Tuner bug corrected.
a ‘(mini)Synth’ block (i’m dreaming on this one )
Anyway, thanks for the Development Update , it give us a ‘timeframe’ for the Plugin Compatibility release date (2024 Q2) , I don’t expect any PlugIn to be available before 30th June 2024
“Stomp Mode Bypass Assignment
A global setting for whether footswitches are automatically assigned to blocks’ bypass settings. If you enable auto-assign, blocks will be assigned to footswitches in the order they are added to The Grid.”
No. It works like this:
CorOs X.Y.Z (X being the first number, Y the second, Z the third)
New X indicates there is a major update. This only happened once yet and I would guess the next one will come when plugin compatibly rolls out.
New Y means updates of some kind. Like new and updated devices (like amps), changes and improvements, etc.
New Z is just for bugfixes or minor updates at most. So this one is nothing to be excited for, but obviously still necessary.
“Swap Tempo and Tuner Access
Enable to access the Tempo settings by holding the bottom-right footswitch and access the Tuner by double‒tapping the bottom-right footswitch.”
Does it mean I can choose between this new mode and the old one?
Still not possible to hide the Tempo Screen when tapping the tempo?
I would tend to assume the same which is why I was searching for a courteous way to say it would probably be a good idea to stop referring to it as a “free” update. Not really free if you have to purchase the plugin to use it.
I think the current understanding is that Neural is not going to make customers pay a second time to use a plugin on the QC that they already purchased for Mac/PC use. Although I suppose they could.
And yeah, nobody likes seeing something they paid for, subsequently given away free but it is a routine occurrence with marketing. Can’t tell you how many free backpacks, bags, software, discounts, etc…, I have missed out on when companies have come up with holiday, or later in the product lifecycle, offers. Wouldn’t mind being on the benefiting end of that equation occasionally.
Not all software-based companies provide free updates/upgrades. I have owned and used FabFilter’s Pro-R reverb plug-in, and recently had to pay extra to upgrade to the new Pro-R2 (to be honest, it was worth it).
I already have Archetype Gojira, so I’m stoked to get a free upgrade to Gojira X when it gets released. Cool.
Also, just to reiterate what Neural have already told us in their September 2023 update:
