QC routing for whole band

Hello, I’m interested in running my whole band off a single Quad Cortex ( 2 GTR, bass). We do a hybrid set up where each instrument sends 2 outputs, One with an IR that goes to FOH and one w/o an IR that goes to a power amp and is then sent to a cabinet for stage volume.

My question is if it’s possible to accomplish this on a single QC since you only have access to 4 rows and generally when I do the 2 output per instrument option I’m using 2 rows per instrument.

I’m wondering if in the IR loader you can send a stereo out and one side just doesn’t have an IR maybe? Thanks

The idea of a stereo IR without one on a side is an interesting idea. I feel like that part would be possible.

As for three separate instruments each having two outputs….I don’t think the QC would be able to do that. You could do it with 2 instruments easily, but with three you would be short by two outputs.

There are two inputs, 2 send/returns, and 2 xlr outputs. You could use an FX return as an input, but wouldn’t have 2 outputs for the third instrument if you want the routing you mentioned.

Hi! If you are using effects before the ir, you can put a send block before the ir and after the effects to send Signal to the power amp amd use the normal outputs for the FOH

technically there are 6 outputs, if you’re not using the FX loops.
You run into trouble configuring the pairs though, if you’re sending 2 outs per Instrument. Only 1 instrument can get a Split Lane, I don’t see how you can get 2 rows for more than 1 instrument.

Input 1: Bass > Send 1 (before IR, sent to amp/cab) > Output 1 (FOH)
Input 2: Guitar1 > Send 2 (before IR, sent to amp/cab) > Output 2 (FOH)
Return1: Guitar 2 > Lane 3 to Output 3
(split Lane 4 off of Lane 3)> Guitar 2 Lane 4 w/ IR to Output 4

does that make sense? Bass/Guitar Lane assignment could be interchanged depending on what needs to go thru the XLR outs. The only thing you can’t achieve is having 2 rows per guitar; only 1 instrument can have 2 rows (if you’re keeping everything separate)

Wanted to update on a quasi solution here.

Using the fx loop insert it has a thru option so on one lane I believe you can do a send to a power amp before hitting the cab block for FOH.

There is enough IO to do this for 2 guitars But not for bass. so my solution is to run bass as single output out into a dark glass unit that has multiple IO and cab sim. This still lets me automate the whole set via midi but just requires the addition of the Darkglass

Wouldn’t this solve it for you?

yeah, that’s what I was describing, just upside down

I believe you are correct thank you.

yeah, I’ll usually just go whip up a preset template like that but didn’t get to it this time. Thanks for stepping in!
My fat thumb syndrome seems to be worsening, I probably should lay off typing completely. It’s more editing than typing lately
