Newbie help please

Hello:

Brand new to Cortex World. I sold my AXFXIII for this baby. WOW! Love its small footprint with so much power.

Can someone please send me a grid view of a setup where outs 1 and 2 go to FOH and 3 or 4 go to power and 2x12 cab on stage? I cannot seem to wrap my head around on how to do that. I still want effects to hit all the outputs, but not the speaker sim on out 3 or 4.

Please and thank you

here’s one way (of many) to do it.
Guitar to input 1.Lane 1 splits and merges back (this gives you use of all of Row 2 and you can split or merge it back into Lane 1 wherever you like)

Lane 1 continues to Lane 3, which outputs to QC Output 1 and 2, your XLRs to FOH.

Lane 3 splits near the end, BEFORE the IR or cab block, and feeds Lane 4 which will go to your power amp/cabs from Outputs 3 and 4 of the QC.

(Optional: The FX Loop Send Block right before the split on Lane 3 can also be used to send your signal to the send Outputs. If you aren’t using your FX Loop, you can save yourself some outputs and Lane 4 this way. Let me know if you’d like more info on that)

hope this makes sense. Can clarify any points that aren’t clear. This is just the template form for routing. You’d place your amps and fx across lanes 1-3 on the grid

Wow! Thank you so much.

I’ll play with this and hit you back if I have any questions. I’m still learning the grid and the outs and rows.

Thanks,

Marc

I just put an FX send at the point I want to send to the power amp, I put the cab after it.

I use input one and rows 1, 2 and 3 for guitar, input 2 and row 4 for vocals

Thank you, Steve.

I understand what you are saying about the analog and natural world, but I’m not sure about this on the Cortex grid.

Can you send pic to me? Sorry. I am an analog man trying to navigate the digital world.

Sure, this is a preset I made as a starting point for all of my live rigs, it shows the routing for the guitar to foh, my power amp and the vocal line: [Dropbox] (My Routing)

Thank you so much.

Happy 4th

You’re welcome, I’m in the UK, so todays the day we get rid of our incompetent government and swap them out for more of the same in different ties

To make it as efficient as possible, it will be good to determine if you will be using Outputs 3/4 or Send 1/2.
Send 1/2 can make MUCH better use of the grid, but are only available if you aren’t using the FX Loop for external pedals. Are you planning to do this?

At this time no external pedals in effects loops.

So sends would be available.

Thanks,

Marc

I use an external pedal in send 2, in mono obviously, leaving send 1 for the power amp

In that case (I should have asked that first!) Sends would definitely be your best option- ignore the Output 3/4 route, because the send can be placed ANYWHERE in your signal chain, it’ll give you much more flexibility.

There are so many options for routing! As you zero in on your preferred signal chain we might be able to help refine it for you if you need
