Describe your issue:
I’ve been a new Quad Cortex owner since October 2025. I use it at my desk in the studio, during rehearsals, and live on stage.
The power cable almost always comes unplugged as soon as I move it, which causes the unit to reboot. Does anyone know how to fix or prevent this? It’s very annoying and adds extra stress during live performances.
It’s definitely not a stage worthy power cable and connector. The QC Mini that just came out has a locking connector. It looks like it is an insert & twist function of some sort. It would be nice if there were a way to retrofit the full size QC with the new connector and replace the power cable but that’s not going to happen.
This issue happens to some people and I don’t understand why. Makes me have a suspicion that some of the OEM power supplies have a 2.5mm barrel end instead of 2.1mm. That would explain that behavior. It definitely shouldn’t just fall out from touching it.
Do you have a Boss-style power supply–2.1mm barrel end–lying around at home? Try fitting that into the QC’s power input (please please please do not have it plugged into the wall when you do this) and see if it fits appropriately snug.
If the QC power supply’s barrel end is too loose and a separate Boss-style supply fits correctly, can you take a close-up photo of the open ends of both barrels side by side?
I think it’s that the slightest move in the cable cuts power and causes a reboot.
mine doesn’t fall out from touching just that a slight bump reboots the QC. Does this describe your issue, OP?
