Plugin without PC

So I’m looking at possibly getting a quad cortex for gigging without a pc, but I’m getting mixed answers on yes you can and no you cant. For context, I have a boss katana gen 3 artist 100w and want to get some sounds that the amp can’t quite produce on itself such as the Tim Henson Archetype. I’m not to familiar with the different models of the quad cortex but I would like to spend the least amount of money on one so I can on it so I can buy tons of plugins. Any help is appreciated!

Hello. First thing, you do NOT need to purchase any other software, nor use a computer, in order to gig with the Quad Cortex. It has plenty of great amp and cabinet models built in on its own, plus you get the ability to create captures, and you can download captures from others.

Plug-in compatibility (otherwise referred to as PCOM) is primarily a benefit to people who have plug-in licenses already and want to use their preferred plug-in settings in their QC. Not all plug-ins are fully compatible at the moment–Tim Henson X isn’t compatible yet. Neural have been working on it, but it’s a very slow process. Anyway, you must own the plug-in license to use it in the QC.

Hi there I hope you don’t mind me hijacking this thread with some related questions. I’m a new QC user. Loving it so far but am “Archytype curious”. What I’m confused about is whether some plugins are QC-compatible already and if so, which ones? If I buy one of those will it show up on my QC automatically or is there some installation process you have to go through?

You’ll see the “compatible with Quad Cortex” on the Product Page.

ONLY THESE are available now (12/18/25). They should already show on your QC in the Plugins section, but will be ‘locked’ if you don’t own licenses linked to your iLok account. Once you buy them and link them to the iLok shared by your QC/NDSP account, they automatically unlock on your QC
