Thinking about buy QC, I want to know are pluggins free if you have a QC.
The plugins are not free on the QC. That being said, basically any amp that would be in the plugins has a version on the QC, except for a couple specific things. Honestly I don’t find myself using the plugins at all on the QC, and don’t think theyre any better than what already comes on it.
There are some amp blocks in the QC which are based on the Soldano SLO-100. I was using them for a bit and they sounded good. But then the SLO-100 plug-in got released to the QC and sounds waaaaaay better.
If you get a QC, really take the time to explore what’s already available there. You will be rewarded. The plug-ins add some value, but you truly don’t need them.
The SLO-100 plugin is really good for sure actually
But I wouldn’t stress about certain plugins not being free since you do get a lot of features.
not free but some retailers have included plugins as a promotion.
Also, there’s captures on the Cortex Cloud for pretty much anything (including the plugins).
Hmmm… here’s some personal perspective. I only write this because I’ve seen several post of people saying “why is neural wasting time on PCOM when we have nuance things that is more important” or why are people complaining, neural is doing the best they can…” etc etc…
I don’t agree with this. To a degree you’re not wrong. That being said, some of the presets that come with the plugins save lots of time. Hours and hours of pain and suffering.
I know what I like in terms of sound. I have spent hours building my own presets, then when recording, I have to put more hours into carve out space because of frequencies I’ve maybe missed or just don’t seem to work (without completely remixing in DAW)
For the most part, when I use a preset from an artist or from neural - a lot of work has been done and I’m normally able to use them direct in DAW with minimal mixing.
It just saves a lot of time which = heartache and pain.
I’m one of the ones who welcomes PCOMM. I own nearly all of the offerings from NDSP and I’ve paid for them and want to have them loaded with presets I’ve already made that I know work in a mix or that have already been used - and I know work in a mix.
Especially, Nolly, Rabea and Petrucci that I’ve already put lots of time into.
People looking for genre specific presets do well with Artist offerings and it definitely offers up time savings and minimal tweaking.
I’ve come across some great captures as far as workarounds, but part of the reason I purchased (another) QC was for PCOM.
I’m a stickler for tone. I also am a stickler for getting what I pay for.
If ive paid $1000+ for plugins $1800 for QC plus the $400 I lost selling the first, this adds up to keeping Neural’s fear to the flame.
Very true…
I agree with you for the most part. Though I haven’t heard that the plugins sound different when running on the QC. Do you have any examples of that?
Ola Englund did a video comparing Plini plugin to the QC version when it was first released and got some slight differences. However, that was later determined to be due to the input gain on QC/interface not being the same and the custom IRs he was using needing to be reimported.
Details are in the top comment on the video.
