Play Samples With Looper

Don’t we have any way to play random samples loaded in the Looper X and play them anytime we want? I know this was a requested feature for QC, but not sure if it’s related with the Looper X.

When you record a loop in Looper X and save it in that existing preset, you can re-call it anytime later. I want to play a short intro sound in stage before I play. Anyone has any ideas? Any way to upload short sounds or backing tracks in the Looper?

Not possible. The Helix Stadium will have this feature, though. There are lots of units that have similar functionality. My favorite looper/jambox/sampler is the Digitech Jamman Stereo - you can trigger samples, record loops (and save loops), and - the coolest function, IMO - use the tap tempo to re-tempo the loops and keep the pitch the same. Great for practicing difficult solos until you can get it up to speed.

But yeah, can’t do that with the QC yet (or likely ever).

Thanks so much, now it’s all clear

I though Digitech Jamman pedals are just looper pedals to play and record guitars and then play loops. Can I load random wav files and play on stage with them? I won’t record guitar and loop it. So what is the cheapest way do you think? Is there a small stomp pedal to handle this?

There is an SD card slot on the Jamman (just not the cheapest one) that will play back samples. Same thing with the Boss looper pedals (except the cheapest one). Some of the Boss pedals have a USB port that you just can copy the samples to the pedal to play back.

If you want the smaller looper pedals that are the normal pedal size, you’ll want a two button footswitch connected to them to change samples.

I used the digitech jamman for this, I used to either record the samples direct from my laptop, but you can load them on the card also.

But the way I’m planning to do this currently, is using the oscillator devices Minerva and handling the samples using the QC midi

The cheapest way would probably be the Jamman Solo XT or the Jamman Stereo. I used to have the Jamman Delay, which was basically the same thing but with built-in delay, which I didn’t need. But yeah, you can record directly or drop files into it using the app or Micro SD, whichever is easiest. I did it both ways. Then, when you’re on stage, just connect it to the mixer, cue up the sample you want to play, and hit the button when you need it.

I use a Boss RC-5 for this. Very simple to load a .wav file from your computer
