No Questions, Just Praise for QC Mini

Hi folks, new user here, just wanted to share my experience. In the past 5 years I’ve bought and sold the HX Stomp, the Tone Master Pro and last year I bought (and will soon be selling) a Fractal FM3. All fine pieces of gear but I’m not a fan of the Helix clean sounds or the Fender effects and the FM3 has an interface I could charitably describe as “user hostile”. I like things that are small, light, easy to use and powerful.

So last Wednesday when the Mini was announced I didn’t even think about it, I put it on my Sweetwater gear card figuring I would have 30 days to decide if it’s an improvement over the FM3 (for my use case). Boy is it!

It arrived Friday but I had a gig so I didn’t get a chance to try it until Saturday morning when I just ran through presets for an hour. Wow! I teach guitar on Saturdays so that night I spent another hour dialing in user presets for my church service the next day. Everybody loved the sounds I was getting and I was able to make some very quick adjustments during rehearsal that would have been impossible on the Fractal unit unless I dragged my laptop to church (which ain’t happening!)

So, I’m clearly way into the honeymoon stage but I don’t think I’ve ever used a piece of gear professionally that I had only owned for a day. That’s how incredible the ease of use is. Do I wish it was cheaper? Of course. The day before the Mini debuted John Cordy predicted it would be a Duo Cortex for around $1,000 USD. I would have totally bought that if it were available. But I desperately want to move on from Fractal and nothing else on the market appeals to me so I’m glad to have this killer little pedal.

Thanks for reading.

@Tonys145 , how did you manage to achieve that ? I have an absolute opposite experience willing to get rid of the device: Low end (boomy sound) & resonance
Which presets did you use ? any specific settings ? I am also using Strat and it sounds awful.

Hi Alex, I saw your thread earlier and I sympathize, these things can be tricky to dial in. Unfortunately I don’t think my experience is going to be very helpful. I suspect you play with a lot more gain than I do. The only Neural plugin I own is Cory Wong (although I’m thinking about adding Plini, his clean tones are gorgeous!) The most gain I ever use is probably around SRV level. I mostly play jazz, blues and 50s and 60s pop and rock. I literally don’t own a tube amp, I’ve been using modellers since my first SansAmp pedal in the early 90s. In short, I’m a weirdo in the electric guitar world.

Sorry man, I hope you work it out.
