Frustration with slow updates overcome by plugging it in

AM I alone in this?

I read the forums everyday. I hear the complaints about no new effects or amps. I begin to be convinced that maybe I should sell it and go another direction.

But then I plug it in and remember.
This organic experience, just unlike any of my others (Kemper, HR, Tonex, FM3).

It has what it has, but man is it good.

Yessssss. It does do it well.

Yeah I agree.

I also think great things can come from having limited options. Maybe even allow you to be more inspired than if we had everything :man_shrugging:

Thats one way of looking at it

This is true with the QC, but also with any modeler. People spend WAY too much time on forums and Facebook and much too little time actually playing. If they spent more time playing, they would probably be satisfied with a Pod Bean from 1998 or even a Zoom 505. We’re so spoiled these days…

But yeah, I was jamming out last night on Parallax and absolutely loving every second of it

And still I miss half the effects I had on my Helix…

I agree! I’ve never been this satisfied with my tones, electric and acoustic. Every time I fire up my rig, it brings a smile to my face.

I have wondered if it is worth having an HX-effects or Fractal VP4 to fill in what’s missing. Maybe NDSP will hit us with a big update. Or maybe they won’t since they generally telegraph what’s coming and its been crickets lately.

True. I have it on a board with 3 other pedals (delay/reverb/multieffect) and a midi switcher. It’s kind of bulky but still manageable. Similar in size to a helix and that keeps me happy experimenting with tones. But if I’m pinched for space I can just take the QC by itself and the only one who would probably notice the difference is me!

For a long time, I always wanted to have the newest, coolest thing but my time in busy gigging band reframed my gearlust into simply looking for stuff that addresses a particular need. After that, the rate of churn in my rig went way down and I was able to focus more on playing the instrument instead of playing with my gear. That’s not to disparage folks who just want to play with fun new tech, but they might be happier with Fractal than NDSP. I rode that train for many years and while new firmware release felt like Christmas morning for a long time, they eventually became a chore as I’d find myself updating things to take advantage of the new features. More tweaking, less playing. :slightly_frowning_face: Throw in the shorter hardware life cycles of Fractal gear and I’m very reluctant to go back, even though they have some features that I really miss on my QC.

I bought the QC mainly to avoid that and being my only unite to do everything (soundcard, live for multi musicians, all effects etc).

Obviously i would have more great and rare amp models but more effects, better midi, synth block etc etc are the priority (for me and my use).

I have modelers and processors that I purchased and they came a certain way, and are still that way. No updates. I mean the QC works just great the way it is. I use plugins on my PC.
My only concern is the lockout proprietary server dependencies. I wish it was a bit more open to the user. For that reason I will be getting a Helix Stadium, I may or may not keep the QC. Will have to see.

Just look at the QC update history, that will tell everything you need to know.

And I do have an HX Effects to supplement the small selection on the QC. Also eyeing the Stadium. I just need line 6 to add a mark IIC+. Which is kind of ironic.
