No audio on Mac OS?

I have my Quad Cortex plugged into a mac (through a powered CalDigital dock). I can open Cortex Control and adjust parameters through the app. In system preferences I set the input to the Quad Cortex and output to my monitor speakers that are connected over USB (Kali LP-UNF).

At this point, what do I need to do to be able to hear the quad cortex through the monitors? Do I need to run software like GarageBand or Logic? When I play, I can see the input level moving within system preferences, but there is no audio out of the speakers.

Alternatively, when I plugin to my Scarlett Solo I can run Archetype Gojira X and hear audio through my monitors, by just plugging the scarlet solo into the same USB dock.

What am I missing? Hoping to be able to just hear the quad cortex through the monitors with the least amount of effort, and be able to control everything via cortex control on the computer.

you need to plug the QC to an audio interface with to 2 cables TRS or XLR or you can use the QC as an Audio interface just connect your monitors to your QC

Here’s a way to use both devices:
