My Battery Powered Quad Cortex!

I’ve just got this on Amazon, and so far I’m really impressed;

The Krisdonia batteries aren’t available in the UK, so I originally bought one that is branded ‘Volessence’. It appears to be identical to the Krisdonia, however it was hard to get hold of a 50,000mAh one, so I bought the 25,000.

I got around 4 hours of charge for the QC with this, which fits with the suggestion that you’ll get around 8 hours with the 50k battery. However the one that was delivered to me was meant to be brand new and was very clearly used (scratches on the metal casing, cables tangled up in the box) so I sent it back.

I was considering holding out for a 50k one, but then I came across this UGreen. I’m a fan of the UGreen brand because all of their stuff is really well made, and you definitely get what you pay for, so although I could have bought a similar capacity power bank for about a 1/3 (I paid about £70 for this Green one) all the reviews said that this is one area where you want to be wary of cheap ‘non-brand’ power banks that are sold as being 25k/30k and more capacity, but in reality are a lot less.

So far this one has been really impressive, it lasted 5 hours powering my QC, via USB C with a 12v USB C to DC cable and a polarity converter tip (why did NDSP insist on using a centre negative supply?! Is there actually a genuine reason for this??) and it’s TSA compliant so also doubles as a really powerful power-bank for travel purposes.

Unfortunately you can’t do pass-through charging with this, and it only has USB output; this isn’t a problem with the QC but for some reason I couldn’t get a Headrush Core to power via USBC, even though I have a 12v USBC-DC cable. As I said though this isn’t a problem with the QC, as that seems to power quite happily from the USB ports

Overall to me it seems a lot more useful to have around the house than going the whole hog and getting a Krisdonia-alike, and I can actually get 2 of these for less than the price of a 50k Krisdonia, so for now it looks like it will do the job really well…
