Yes, it’s a start but what needs to happen is the assigning of cc on/off per device or position on the grid IF ONLY to keep the QC competitive with ALL the other multi-function devices in the market!!
I would say not only bypass, but Midi CC assignment as even HX Stomp does. Any parameter you can just assign midi CC and define the range as we do with expression but with a CC message it will be perfect.
Agreed! Midi control for parameters would be great. I was mainly talking about a “at very least” option.
Yet another thing I’m surprised to not see! After LFOs and envelopes, these MIDI limitations seem unreasonable.
Hope to see the total MIDI freedom in the 3.0!!!
Let me start by saying I know this has been posted before…so I don’t need a “this topic has already been posted please do a search blah…blah”
OK so…we’ve made it through PCOM and 3.0. I understand there’s a LOT on NDSP’s plate (mostly adding “X” to the rest of the plug-ins to generate more income)…BUT!!! ARE WE GOING TO HEAR OR SEE ANYTHING REGARDING FULL MIDI IMPLEMENTATION ANYTIME SOON???
You guys are killin’ me! We’ve all been waiting patiently for over 2 years and NOTHING??? Not even an expected date for midi control over the blocks?? I just can’t see how adding a data bit to the string for each device can be THAT difficult! You already HAVE it on a few things.
PLEASE, PLEASE (begging!!! ), PLEASE!!! At VERY least let us know if we can expect it AT ALL?!?!?!
I LOVE my QC but I need to control it from a remote switcher and NOT being able to control the blocks themselves without having them attached to a switch is…I’ll say it yet again…RIDICULOUS AND FRUSTRATING!!
PLEASE!!! something! ANYTHING???
I feel you and we share the same opinion…still, I believe we need a more proactive approach.
Not only writing and voting in the forum, but also sending mails to the support, like suggested here (see Neural’s response):
You all should make some signs on sticks and stand outside their office.
It would be utterly helpful if someone from neural would be active in this forum. He/She could have a look at the forum once a week, go through the requests and bugs, merge duplicates, communicate those to the dev team if needed, and update the status on those. Seeing “under review” or “in development” or “won’t do / won’t fix” on all of those ideas and bug reports would ease everyone’s mind and would only take an hour of work time per week. Hell, why not even answer questions from time to time in here, there are a lot of things we only guessed or worked out by testing ourselfs in the past because there is no official info on how some things are functioning. I do think it’s kind of crazy to have an official forum without this kind of feedback.
E.g. someone finding a bug comes here to post a bug report with a lot of information just to be told “please report to neural via mail”… That’s just wasting everyone’s time and also the potential of having a great userbase for finding bugs and bringing awesome ideas to the table.
I too, have been frustrated by the QC’s rather primitive MIDI capabilities. Since finding the work-around, I’m able to do everything I need (QC buttons change presets, MIDI pedal turns blocks off and on), but I’m sure it’s frustrating for those who need more. I believe that increased MIDI functionality is one of the most requested improvements so I’m sure NDSP is aware. Hopefully, with plugin capabilities well underway, some resources will be shifted to expanding MIDI.
I too grew tired of waiting but the up sides of the QC outweigh the down for me. It’s still hands down the most inspiring modeler to play IMO.
I bought a Morningstar MC6 pro and haven’t looked back. There’s enough midi implementation currently that I can make it work.
I have one kitchen sink preset on the QC and I have song specific patches on the Morningstar to navigate thru the different tones for the song (intro, verse, chorus etc)
This is all I need. When more midi comes I’ll be excited but I can make it until then.
BTW I used one of those Shure wireless units when I was gigging and liked the heck out of it. It was big and heavy compared to those plug in thingies but if performed solid as a rock.
Great to see that this was requested before, apart from being able to control all the effects on the grid externaly, imagine this:
Since the QC is so powerful, we can actually use 2 rows for one guitar, assign 5-10 effects with the footswitches, and then another 2 rows for a second guitarist, who would be able to control his effects with an external midi controller (when the effect is waiting for you to press a footswitch, we press a midi command and locks to that). 1 effect unit for 2 guitarists! Maybe the second guitarist likes the sounds and then buys their own
( Thank you @PaoloM )
This is the exact reason I returned my QC when I bought it at launch/pre-order. At the time, I needed Fractal-level MIDI control (turn specific blocks on/off, adjust parameters, etc.) but now that I’m a lowly bass player, it’s fine as-is, although I would love to see it get fully assignable MIDI like Fractal.
Such a valuable and common feature which the qc doesn’t t have yet again. I like the tones but wow this thing is so limited in effects and midi capabilities for being the moat powerful multi effects unit. Please implement more midi control like axe fx etc.
Would be pretty cool to be able to just switch midi in scenes mode coming from using a pedalboard with a RJM PBC midi full control to this has been frustrating. I want to be able to use my strymons and bloom with the QC but man the more I sit on it the more I think about just going back to a normal pedalboard. Please Mr/Ms/Mrs. Neural fix this. I beg.
It would be great to have more MIDI #CC options than now. For example, my band prepares for a tour, and our second guitarist uses Boss GT-1000. And i got blown away than we realised, that GT-1000 allows you to assign custom #CC for EVERY POSSIBLE SETTING in preset. You can even change preset BPM by assigning it to a custom #CC in a desired range, so that tempo changes IMMEDIATELY, and you don’t need to wait for “4 emulated tap-tempo” button presses to calculate right BPM or even use MIDI clock, because some programs such as QLab can’t send MIDI clock info. It’s a shame that QC have only some BUILT IN #CC and the only way you can automate something, that don’t have built-in #CC is to use one of TWO expression pedal #CC
