MIDI oddities

MIDI CC 35-42 simulate a footswitch press, but it does so based upon the current mode. In other words, if I am scene view, the footswitch press is choosing a particular scene. But if I am Scene view already, what good is that? I could have just pressed the footswitch on the QC. What would be more helpful is having a CC analogous to CC 43, but for Stomps. In other words, if I am displaying Scene view, I could send a CC with a value to simulate a Stomp footswitch press.

Or am I missing something?

I think you’re right and it’s a bit strange. A possible explanation is that CC35 to 42 cover preset, stomp, scene and all hybrid modes, no matter how the user sets them up.

And then they added CCs for scenes for convenience.

What many users do is that they program external midi devices to send two (or three) messages to change mode, press a footswitch (and change mode back).
