I use an MC8 and have had a few situations where I hit two switches at the same time and got into the wrong preset page. One thing that helps is setting up your patches with consistent switch layouts, at least as much as possible. I use the MC8 to change QC scenes, and leave the QC in stomp mode all the time. Then I layout the scenes and stomp switches similarly in each patch so that I typically know what a switch does without having to use Gig mode. This way when I do look down, I’m only making sure my foot is on the right switch, and don’t have to figure out which switch at the same time.
I know everyone is recommending MC6 and MC8 but darn those units are big and expensive! I am using a Midi Captain (added after Airstep) which has more buttons and smaller size. It already has some presets and Geek mode that you can customize to whatever you want. I use it to control my QC, as well as Loopy Pro (looper) and has been working great for me at almost 1/3 of the price.
Looks like a great option for a controller and as you said, reasonably priced. Thanks for posing about it!
The Midi Captain has some great features.
I’ll throw this one into the ring. Used it several years with my Eleven Rack and now with my QC. The most bang for the buck I think out there with the top buttons and all the inputs on the back.
Using an older midi floor controller… It’s big but does what I want preset scene and stomp 2 expressions work perfectly aswell… Has worked perfectly since I figured it out Fcb1010… It saves my QC from being in the firing line on stage… And cheap so it’s easier to replace
