Midi Block - Provide a Midi Block that allows for midi controls managed like device controls

While I appreciate the CorOS 3.0 extended midi feature set, I find going into the Midi output settings screen across every scene to change the values per scene to be challenging. As there is no definable “midi device library,” You have to remember every device and every PC or CC command for each device. With just 2 external midi controllable fx (one in each loop for example) 10 parameters each, that’s a lot to try and remember.

One solution would be to extend midi control with a library of named devices and functions.

But a better and more consistent UX would be to extend that as a Midi Block. This would look/act like an fx block for presets, scenes, and pedal modes. Set up would allow you to name the Block, Name the param and assign the midi controls (pc/cc, channel, low/high value, type: switch, multi-state, variable). Assign one param with 2 values as the “on/off” param and allow the block to be assigned to a footswitch. Param values would be assignable to scenes just like the fx blocks.

Like existing FX Blocks, up to 3 pages of midi params could be assigned and controlled with a dial from a min/max range (much like Expression Pedal). Could be a mix of switches, multi-position, and fully variable. You can save any number of these as a named blocks in a new FX category "Midi Controller. "

Even better would be to enable this same functionality for the Loop FX 1, 2 or FX 1/2. Then you could assign midi params associated with the external pedals that are in the FX loops and have everything together for not just enabling/disabling the loop, but also setting the PC and CC values for those devices.

Yes, this would take up real estate on the screen, so I wouldn’t want to remove the existing midi capabilities. But most presets don’t come anywhere close to using all the block positions on the grid.

This would solve so many issues with using MIDI devices consistently and as fast as using the built-in capabilities. I’m not aware of any other device that offers this other than a dedicated midi foot pedal, but those don’t have dials nor touch-screen controls.

Could also make assigning an Expression controller to any of these midi params as simple as the current assignment to an FX block.
