I gig with 4 different guitars, sometimes more, and they have essentially 2 very different gain levels between them because of their pickup configuration. I would like to be able to use the same presets and scenes with any of my guitars, for which the best solution would be input level presets (global), which could be selected using:
MIDI messages
External footswitch
Long press on footswitches, or pressing 2 switches at the same time
Dedicated touchscreen button in performance view, with a clear visual cue of which input level preset is selected (probably the best and easiest solution)
Yep, seen this one and there’s a substantial difference, my feature request is that input level presets are completely independent from presets, that is, global. The reason being I would like to be able to switch guitars and keep using the same patches and scenes.
One comment about the feature request you’ve mentioned, it doesn’t require any changes to the QC software as it can be implemented by adjusting the gain for that particular patch either in the amp/drive block or by adding a gain block at the beginning of the chain.
actually, they implemented a volume control IN the Input Block itself as of the last update, so now the Input level can be set per preset without the need for additional blocks. Many users are adjusting the level at this point and saving individual presets per guitar.
It’s not a Global solution to switching guitars, but it allows some workarounds in the meantime.
Also, for now, you could assign switches to that Volume setting in the Input block of each preset and control it via Scenes, XPs, midi etc.
Yep you’re absolutely right, just built a quick prototype and it works exactly as expected, I’ll use a 4 position switch for a little more flexibility, something like:
Single coils (+3.1db)
PAF (0db)
Hot humbucker, like a JB (-3.2db)
Active pickup (-6.2db)
Pic of the prototype below, just ordered the actual project box so it looks decent.
