Since the Cortex Cloud app is used to access additional parameters of Nano Cortex, I feel it should be possible to have access to the parameters of physical device in front of me without having to be connected to the internet.
If I try to launch to the Cortex Cloud app without having internet connection the app gets stuck on Neural logo and fails to initialise. (happens on both iOS and Android)
I don’t understand why an internet connection is required to change high cut on a IR block or to assign preset to a foot switch.
This is 100% the most frustrating thing about the nc. Not working without internet is the biggest oversight in the device and had I known before I bought it I may have waited until it was fixed or went with another unit tbh.
I have NC and it is a serius issue for me. I did not believe when I realize it works this way. It looks like the developers forgot that people use in gigs and shows and the room can reverberate some frequencies that we have to correct, and whithout a good internet connection…
There is another topic asking for the same thing. Is it possible to merge to one topic and merge the votes?
Please we are experimenting some issues with the cortex cloud app and it’s not possible to edit anything. I beg for a offline function with the Bluetooth to be able to use it always. It is really painful when happens in a gig.
Thanks in advance!!
I agree with you.
This is the 3rd topic I see that asks for the same thing.
Can the 3 be merged and votes merged too?
The ability to access the full features without the need to be connected to the internet, should be added. Not everyone has the luxury to have internet in the phone. This is a hidden “bomb” for new customers.
Which Features do you mean exactly? I get your point, but that a Cloud Service like Cortex Cloud won’t work without Internet should be clear.
I f. e. Download the captures I want to try at home and test them in the band room later without any need of internet. Are there other restrictions offline?
I was so sad after setting up my entire pedalboard with the nano and discovering that it’s not possible to access the app without internet, in some places I play the internet signal isn’t good and sometimes I wish I could make adjustments in places without internet
My way of mitigating this is carrying an EQ pedal with me . You can always tweak your sound a little bit if you end up needing to. An offline version of the cortex app would be cool too , however
In the developers country (Finland I think) probably there’s no internet connection problem, or the developers don’t gig, I really dont know but with the more affordable product that is the Nano (here in Brazil it’s stil a lot of money whith our 60% import tax), it’s natural that the nano cortex will be used for people in places that has bad internet connections and without we can adjust some parameter offline, I think this product has a serious issue.
Yesterday I discovered this problem, in a rehearsal was not possible set my nano cortex. At least wasnt a live concert, horrible experience. Unfortunately I will return my NC.
Welcome to the community, Andre! I say this lovingly, but in Finland, there are plenty of gigging musicians playing in venues with every kind of issue that live musicians encounter elsewhere, from spotty internet to bad power… if you play out long enough, you’ll see it all. Finland is no exception. And the good folks at NeuralDSP absolutely road test this stuff, and gig it themselves as well: they’re gear nerds like the rest of us, after all ![]()
I’m a happy user of the Nano and QC and before anything live, I have my presets good to go. And I would also agree with @Igigi in that I share the same idea about an EQ pedal for room-specific fixes, that a 3-band EQ can’t solve. My most remote gig was on a First Nation’s reserve, and I prepped as if I didn’t need internet, let alone power because the venue was in a repurposed meeting hall. No issues from my end. Maybe you like on-the-fly changes, so I could understand your frustration in that way, but again, there are options. I think it’s a to-each-their-own situation in terms of what kind of accessibility you need from your device; for me, there is no serious issue in this regard but your point is still valid. And at the very least you’re adding your voice to the chorus of feature requests, so cheers for that.
EDIT btw if I could wave my magic wand and make something disappear, I’d get rid of that 60% import tax. WOW that’s aggressive ![]()
I agree. This feature is a must.
I’ve come across some app disconnecting moments even at home with my WiFi.
Live, it’s excessively risky to rely on internet. It could mean that you can’t edit some important thing in a certain moment, and without a reason.
It’s quite easy to give the app some offline functionality. Come on guys, give us that simple request.
The app has a bug.
I regularly see the no internet pop up when switching between apps in iOS while home with very good WiFi.
So, what’s the point to make this so inconvenient to change some parameters, at home or at gig? 2.0 we had to be connected only first time. 2.1 we have to be connected all the time. A friend was looking for information, and saw my name in this forum and asked me if it was true that needed internet. He couldn’t believe (as me).
Edit: this post was not here. I think moderators are merging the requests but this is an answer from a problem that sometimes I have to use vpn to open the cortex cloud app. Imagine this happening in a show…
Yea same here, sometimes the app just straight up crashes on me. It makes editing presets very tedious
I used my Nano for the first time on a gig today and was surprised to find that I couldn’t connect to the app without WiFi. If editing is only needed directly on the Nano (with no downloads or cloud features required), there should be an option to do this offline via Bluetooth. Otherwise, making quick edits on the device itself feels unnecessarily complicated. The app already works really well and quickly with the Nano, and I’d love to have my iPad always showing what’s happening on the device as I use it. This would be especially useful for functions like the tuner and tap tempo. I truly hope Neural considers adding this functionality.
Still a needed feature…
It is with the newest update
Oh, you’re right - what a pleasant surprise! Thanks ![]()
