Line 6 fbV and the QC?

Has/Is anyone used the line 6 fbV controller with the QC? I have an unused mint one and am wondering if it is usable with my QC. Any info or help would be much appreciated.:slightly_smiling_face:

You cannot use these with the QC. They don’t seem to have a midi connection, just USB. Pretty sure these are just meant to work with Line 6 products since they have a very specific connector for their products.

That is not what line 6 states. The following is directly from the FBV MkII Advanced User Guide : What’s in it for Me?
Your new FBV Shortboard™ or Express™ MkII is a pretty sophisticated piece of gear, capable of
controlling not only Line 6 Amp and POD® devices (via an RJ-45 cable connection), but also capable
of controlling any software on your computer that receives common MIDI control messages (via a
standard USB connection). The Line 6 FBV Control application is specifically for the latter function

  • it provides a simple yet powerful set of features to allow you to “program” specifically what type of
MIDI message is sent from each of the footswitch and pedal controls to your desired software. Further,
you can then store these control assignments as FBV Preset files, stored on your computer for recall
anytime. Go ahead and tweak all you like to allow your FBV MkII hardware to do those naughty MIDI
controller things you always wanted to try!

I highly doubt that the Line 6 FBV Shortboard will be able to connect to the QC via USB. But you can try. Look at section 10 (pgs. 85-89) in the QC manual.

You would need to connect it to a computer, and then route the midi from it to the QC. Or find a device that might convert the USB plug to a standard midi jack for the QC. It is nowhere near plug and play, and would need workarounds to maybe work. Just seems like a lot of extra fuss for not much added functionality if it does work, since the QC doesn’t have a ton of extra midi functionality atm. You’ll mostly be limited to basically 8 buttons for scenes or stomps.

Pulling the Line 6 marketing sheet where they try to sell you their product isn’t really much haha. It’ll be a big pain to get the foot controller set up with the QC, and even then you’ll need either a laptop or external midi device that will convert the USB signal….The Line 6 could be programmed to control plugins on your laptop though. Basically a bunch of extra time and money for something that is possibly bigger than the QC itself…..

I went down this rabbit hole several years ago for another processer and honestly never got it to work after building an Arduino interface and everything. Hopefully the links in this site may help:

Hey guys. Thanks for the responses. I already have a number of rabbit holes I have entered. It’s great to have fellow QC users so willing to help one another.:+1:
