Hi. Quad Cortex. Latest software. Used in UK without issue. Gigged and home use for a couple of years. Primarily used with a Laney 112 cab, but more recently into a Spark Edge as an FRFR (for portability). Both work fine. Full back up of QC taken.
In Spain, I have a second QC - backup restored from UK unit. These are therefore identical. I also have a Spark Edge in Spain. Again, identical to UK unit.
I simply cannot get any volume out of the Spark Edge in Spain. The one in the UK is fine.
In Spain - troubleshooting……
Guitar with cable direct into Spark Edge - All good. Full volume etc So Spark works
Guitar into QC then QC into Spark Edge - there is a guitar sound but is so quiet it is almost inaudible
However, if I unmute the metronome on the QC, I get a full volume click!!!
If i plug in/unplug any cable I get a full volume pop (not to be recommended I know)
On QC, the input meters and output meters all register when the guitar is played. And this is a mimic of my uk setting.
This may suggest the cable may be at fault, but if these are plugged directly into its Spark edge they work fine - plus the metronome sounds using cables too.
I am absolutely at a loss as to what to check.
Any QC geniuses out there with any ideas? Greatly appreciated. Thanks
QC’s default settings are meant for you to add an amp block on the grid, which will boost the signal. If you’re passing completely dry guitar signal through, it will sound quiet.
If dry signal is what you want, you can compensate increasing the input and/or output gain.
Thanks for the reply, but I wasn’t clear on the issue - have modified my post - my UK set up using amps cabs etc on teh QC but going into teh Spark Edge as an FRFR works fine.
It should be the same in Spain but I am just not getting any volume.
That’s a strange one. If the last backup was done on the UK-QC, maybe there was a glitch during the backup or when you loaded it into your second machine. Have you tried reloading your last backup? If you have the opportunity, can you create a fresh backup from the UK-QC then load that one into the QC in Spain? Loading the backup should overwrite all settings, including global settings (I think).
Back to UK in a couple of days so will go over every setting on my UK rig and then mimic it when next ion Spain - even down to the cables used. Part of me thinks it may be these.
