Yes it’s a Fender Blackface style tube preamp, and with a studio type compressor after you get a type of compression similar to what you get from a clean tube power amp.
It depends on what you expect from pristine cleans, if you are for a more miked up tone the clean models in the QC works (and distorts of course, like a real miked up amp will do).
