Fortin Cali Suite plugin differences

Recently tried, then bought the Fortin Cali Amp suite. I use Gig Performer and wanted to create a basic rackspace that allowed for adjustment of every parameter in the amp suite. Doing so revealed some issues, causing experimentation with the different plugin platforms. Testing by choosing presets from the amp suite’s listings, this is what I found.

Starting with the VST3 version, most but not all parameters (viewed as widgets in Gig Performer) would update with each preset. More specifically, the preset’s amp type, input, output and gate settings did not update. Neither did many of the settings in the cabinet/mics section. Gig Performer’s plugin manager has an option to refresh all values when a rackspace is chosen, but using that option had no effect on the plugin’s behavior.

Next I tried the AU plugin. When changing presets, all of the parameters updated as expected. The only problem was that parameters that used names i.e. Amp Type and Cab microphones were listed as numeric values instead. Inconvenient.

Finally, I tried the VST2 plugin. This one worked perfectly, updating all parameters and displaying names where they were needed. The team at Gig Performer thought I should report those findings here. Hopefully that may help get some parity on each platform of this amazing plugin.
