I currently have 2 Headrush 108’s running in stereo that I use with my QC, i’m interested in getting a Matrix FRFR cab, does anyone have experience with using them with the QC?
I can’t decide between active or passive and if the 1x12 or 2x12 would be better to use as i’ve heard good and bad remarks about both. It would be for use at home
It was active. He never really used the Matrix due to the uneven frequency response. He replaced it with a Headrush FRFR108 and then an FRFR112 (which he still uses). I am using two FRFR108s as well. They’re not a perfect solution but if I dial in presets on studio monitors, they still sound balanced through the 108s and direct to the PA. Again, it was an older Matrix. There are a lot of folks who use and love Matrix cabs so the newer stuff is probably improved. The cab itself was certainly well-built.
A friend of mine has an FRFR108 and a FRFR112 . The 112 has more low end extensions but sounds more exaggerated in the upper bass region (to my ear). The Headrush cabs are not exactly rugged but amazing price vs performance.
I run one HR 108 and keep looking at others and reading about others but seem to just stick with it. Don’t do stereo or a lot of modulated effects but I do run a dry signal to my studio Quadrverb 2 and create a surround reverb and delay in the room.
Were I to get something else at this point probably the Fender FRFR 10" as I hear the 12" great at gig volumes but studio the 10" a little tighter.
