Headrush 108MKII for Quad Cortex or other FRFR

Hello good morning I wanted to ask, I have a doubt about buying a FrFr speaker for the Quad Cortex and I am unsure between the HeadRush 108 MKII model or the Fender Tone Master FrFr-10. The thing is that the Fender is much more expensive but they tell me that the Headrush sound is saturated with bass, which could be corrected in the Quad Cortex, but I do not want that once I buy the Headrush I find that the sound is not the best, since everyone speaks very well of the Fender but I would like to know your opinion on the Headrush if anyone has it and has used it or uses it with the Quad Cortex or if you recommend the Fender Tone Master FrFr 10, or another model that is well priced and goes well with the Quad Cortex
Thanks

I use the FR-10 with my QC, Nano and TONEX pedal which all works great with the FRFR. I tried Atomic CLR FRFRs while on loan from a friend and HR 108, the CLRs smoked everything else but they are the most expensive at nearly $1k each. After testing, I stayed with the Fender FR-10 due to the portability and XLR line out etc., and of course the tones were perfect for me. The HR sounded like I had a blanket over it and I could never dial it out enough to be happy.

I haven’t tried the Tonex Cab and awaiting reviews when it actually ships..

The Headrush sounds terrible in my opinion. I have CLRs and love them. I’ve had Friedmans, Fender, and EV. The Fenders aren’t bad but they aren’t my favorite choice. The Friedmans were good but really had too much bass and they are heavy with awkward controls and handle. The EV’s weren’t bad but not as good as the CLRs. I have some QSC’s but I didnt care for them so I use them for practice monitors. I feel that you get what you pay for with most things so you might have to spend a bit more to get something decent sounding.

Have a look at the Laney frfr 112 or 212.
the reviews are really good.

I recently got my TONEX cab.

I just sold my 2 headrush 108. It’s a different level.

I’ve used Yamaha DXR 10, JBL EON 610, headrush 108s and the TONEX cab. I’d say 108 is the worst of them all (that’s how it should be according to the price). High freqs sound harsh to me and bass are boomy.

I’ve used them all with QC, headrush, Friedman Irx and ird, Atomic, TONEX, Kemper (I recently sold my Kemper Stage so I didn’t try it with the TONEX cab)… I’m very happy with the TONEX. Having presets is good. And the tone stack works fine, too. And it’s light and powerful.

If a friend asked me, I’d say go with the TONEX. It’s the best feel I’ve had until now with digital gear.

Remember your gear can only sound as good as your speaker system allows.

The Headrush 108 claims to be a 2000 watt (2 kilowatt) amp with a single 8-inch speaker. What’s wrong with this picture? There’s a saying in electronics engineering that “you can’t shrink a Watt.” Instead, the Headrush decided to shrink the speaker like a shrunken head.

Seriously, however, 2 kw is a bone-crushing amount of power that can shred a car tire. How can a speaker that is smaller than an iPad push air with the the equivalent force of 2.6 horsepower (I.e. 2kw)? It can’t. A big part of the power is wasted as heat.

I use a Mackie 12” powered PA speaker with 1500 Watts with my QC and its magical. The lows will rattle the walls and the highs will break glass. It is a great FRFR setup.

QSC famously has famously published peak watts with questionable % THD for their power rating as well.

Their 10” monitor is rated at 2k watts

Pro tip: Don’t do yourself a disservice by spending $1700 on a modeler and then cheaping out (“well priced”) on the speakers. Go with QSC or Fender or something more high-end. Or, if it’s just for home, get some decent studio monitors or nice headphones.
