Discord vs this forum

Dear community, is there a general consent which topics are discussed here and which on Discord?
I’m not used to Discord so much (I’m too old probably) but I always have the feeling I might miss something important.

it’s a free-for-all, pretty much anything goes anywhere. Discord is harder to keep track of though

Discord seems more like an interactive chat. It’s hard to keep up with, and hard to find usable content. But a great place to engage with people having a common interest and available time.

This forum seems more focused on information exchange and problem solving. At least that’s how I use it and how I contribute.

I really don’t like using Discord.

I frequent the discord a lot more, as its easier to chat, search, and share things. I find that the forums here are better for support and feature requests.

Similar to others who posted already I find Discord to be more informal and conversational. Topics can and do change rapidly. Posts tend to be very short.

The forum seems to be utilized primarily for troubleshooting, sharing of best practices, bug reports, feature requests, rundowns/walkthroughs on new or favorite features, links to, reviews, and opinions on peripheral outboard gear like MIDI controllers, pedalboards, power supply, etc…

The forum lends itself to longer more descriptive posts. It also provides historical perspective as you can scroll up and see the past responses to a specific subject in a topic. On Discord there may be five different threads running concurrently on completely different topics, but the responses are not separated by topic. Happy both platforms exist, they serve different needs with some overlap.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts.
So I think I will concentrate on the forum. Especially the chat-like “many threads in parallel” of Discord is confusing me too much

Actually, you don’t miss much, neither here nor on Discord. After staying away from both platforms for several months due to private reasons, topics didn’t seem to have changed much. It’s more like the same things brought up by new people quite frequently.

@2342 , I think you just summarized Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok in two sentences
