About this forum and how to use it

Continuing the discussion from Ya gotta LOVE NDSP marketing:

I thought it was about the QC and plugins in general?
I am also a bit confused, because whenever someone reports a bug, someone (often times a mod) will jump in and redirect that person to the NDSP support. This is justified with the fact, that NDSP doesn’t monitor this forum much.
Following that logic also would mean, that features requests here are kind of useless, when NDSP isn’t looking into them. I think some clarification would help here.

Also, I see a lot of threads being closed down for many different reasons. The most typical one is, that a new user creates a topic that already exists. Or that a mod decides that a thread is no longer needed or “not in place” somehow.
However, I don’t see the logic in that. The thread already exists, so closing it only makes it more likely for the next person to open a similar one. And the only way to keep the forum organised is to merge threads. Which only mods can do.

And last but not least, there is no topic exclusive for the QC mini. So feature requests and general discussion about it end up in the QC topic. This will again lead to more confusion.

There’s also a show your guitar thread (which is awesome), unrelated to bugs and requests. I was also confused by that thread being shut down (tbh I was confused by that thread generally).

The initial post was someone being rude. Also makes sense there isn’t something separate for the QC mini since it’s the same OS version, effects, etc for the QC and QC mini.

They don’t interact much on the forum, but they do see it. We just don’t know how much. Some requests brought up in the forum have made their way to the QC–the bit crusher is a recent example.

Of course, whenever I mention this, someone pipes up with a “Well why haven’t they implemented _____ yet?” We don’t know their development road map.

The Bug Report threads are useful for determining whether or not many people are having the same issue, typically after a firmware update. Occasionally it’s a user-error thing where others are able to speak into solving a problem.

Most of the duplicate requests in the forum are created by someone who is brand new and hasn’t figured out yet that maybe a whole bunch of other people may already have the same idea. [I did the exact same thing when I joined.]

In that case we try to steer people to the original request, or to a similar request that would “supercede” the new one. Forum members have a limited number of votes available; the point is to honor that by bringing visibility back to the original. Quite often the new member says “Oops!” and lends their vote to the older thread.

To be honest, I don’t know what the criteria is for when a mod merges threads. But I’ve seen it happen less often over time.

How do you know they see it? If they don’t interact, we just don’t know. The only logical reason for mods telling people to forward bug reports to the NDSP support is that they do not really look into them. Otherwise, they could just directly answer in that very thread.
It would make much more sense and be more efficient for them as well.

True, but that’s just logical reasoning. Features will come, regardless of feature requests. So how do we know they even take our votes into consideration? They never say “we are working on it” or “that’s not possible” or anything like that.
That feels very much like throwing coins into a wishing well. If you believe in it, you will feel like it works. If you don’t, you don’t.

Exactly my point! We just don’t know.
And it feels more and more like an abandoned forum where users are left to their own. Which would be fine btw, if that were clear.
But the existence of threads like bug reports and feature requests as well as mods shutting down threads at random contradicts this.

Duplicate threads are opened (e.g. Feature requests mostly etc.) due to people not searching before submitting and closing those threads helps with the overall origination. NDSP is aware of the various threads including the feature requests and have implemented requests based on votes. We know this because NDSP has stated this multiple times. If a bug is reported here, it may or may not be seen by NDSP but it can be escalated to support if needed.

If a mod closes a thread and you have an issue with that, please feel free to DM the mod for assistance. Do not open another thread inquiring why etc. Thanks!
