The list of neural captures is too long to wrap your head around what any of these are and make tweaking things basically impossible (just a moment in time snapshot.)
What if when making a capture you could specify that the thing you’re capturing has x number of parameters you’d like to capture. Looking at an Ibanez TS 9 for example:
I would specify there are 3 dials labeled, Drive, Tone, Level.
Then capture says, ok, match the position of each dial and push capture. After it’s done, you can accept just that one configuration, or “add more snapshots”.
These are the benefits:
- When I load this capture, even with 1 setup, I can clearly see what was captured. Drive at noon, tone at 9 oclock, level noon, etc. Even if I can’t control it, it’s so much easier to know what this probably sounds like
- If a capture has multiple setups, you could cycle through them in a single NC block meaning less mess in the capture list with names that make no sense (Iba Green 9 2 vs Iba Green 9 3, wtf does that mean? Which knob(s) changed? If I capture 2 knobs in 10 positions each, that’s 100 files in the capture list.
- If the person capturing created a comprehensive capture with say every 10% and every combination of that, you could have control over your capture and it becomes less of a “snapshot” and more of a modeled version of your device.
Even if we could do multiple captures in a single neural capture and name them that would help with the bad UX of 10 poorly named files and bring more awareness to what the capture actually contains.
What do you all think?
