I want to create ambient pads - via the Looper. CRITICAL is the level at the start and end of the loop so that as the looper sounds seamless. In other words - SEAMLESS - looping.
My loop (or ambient pad) IS NOT a single note, therefore I am not, and do not want to use the freeze block.
Any tutorials on create loops that feel like ambient pads - where the loop is seamless, and you don’t hear a glitch, or an audio blip as you end the loop and start paying back at the beginning
Are there “crossover” type settings in the Looper - such that can fade out the end, and fade in the beginning and/or “BLEND” the end of the loop and beginning together?
Any tutorials on creating ambient pads - that are looped on the QC?
Can you record an “empty” loop - like some looping videos recommend?
tough call, does quantizing help at all? a good trick is to add to the loop a note/chord phrase or texture that starts before the end and plays over the transition, which effectively hides the difference in volume. It’s tricky to be precise with organic pads, even in a DAW so disguise is one option if synchronising or choosing the end by ear doesn’t cut it.
Coudn’t you let the pad evolve outside of the loop and just play over it? There are loads of presets with ambient drones etc in their own lane.
Hi - I want this as part of a live performance; and considering how much you pay for the QC, and considering that many users make/create ambient type of music - I need to create seamless loops in a live setting.
Can you record a “blank” or “empty” loop with the QC?
I loop live, I’ve always found it seamless, but I’m looping musical phrases … so the cut suggests itself. Not quite sure what you mean by a blank loop? I thought your problem was matching the end of your loop to it’s beginning dynamically, I may have mis-read that.
what I particularly like about the looper is when you have a loop playing you can switch to any other preset with a looper block in it seamlessly (as the loop masks the drop-out), this dramatically expands the sounds you can add in a live setting, I went in and re-saved the factory settings that I like with a looper block added so I can switch between them and my own presets mid-loop.
I haven’t tried this with the Looper, but I have assigned Synth “pads” to the footswitches similar to the “Numb Synth” preset where tuned notes are generated by Filters with different notes assigned across the switches. Levels are consistent, but there’s not much dynamic control available (use of XP is really the only option for fades, etc)
The QC Looper is somewhat limited for live performance use. You can only create one loop, though you can layer it with overdubs. How would you be creating the ‘pads?’ I haven’t experienced ‘blitches’ (sorry, I saw an chance to coin a word by combining two to save typing but now ruined it by explaining) when looping. Is that from the fx you have running on the grid/in the pad?
There’s no crossfading or blending with the Loops because there’s really only 1 Loop available.
You can record an empty loop (if you mean ‘blank’- with no audio). Usually the Loop starts recording when you start playing, but you can bypass the threshold setting and have it start immediately, whether you’re playing or not.
I don’t know of any ambient looping tutorials for the QC out there. Sounds like that might be a niche you could fill if you get it working to your satisfaction.
Do you have any recordings demonstrating what you’re trying to do? If we could hear the goal, it might help think of some ways to achieve it.
There are a ton of ambient/pad looping videos on YouTube. To make them you just add super wet delay and reverbs. Easy trick is to set one or two reverbs to 100%
