Cortex control crashing when i try to enter settings

cortex control crashing when i select settings splash screen appears then program shuts down.
same issue on two differant PCs
worked previously anyone encounted this issue.

What version of the CoreOS firmware are you on, the latest, 2.2.2? What version of Cortex Control, 0.7.0.42? First thing I would check is that they are both the latest versions.

both latest versions

I have not been able to get any of the ‘Settings’ screens to crash. Which steps exactly cause it to crash for you?

Does this happen on all presets?

Are you logged in when the crash occurs? I might try temporarily disconnecting your ethernet cable if you are using one, to make sure it is not something funky with your login.

I would ordinarily suggest reinstalling the Cortex Control application, but given that this is happening on both PCs, it is more likely something to do with the USB cable (try swapping) or the firmware on the QC. I suppose as a last resort you could take a backup and do a factory reset.

The only thing i can see that has changed is when i previously connected usb, my quad cortex used internet thorugh laptop where as now its connected direct to wifi (not using pc connection) i think this is part of the problem yet its occuring on 2 seperate computers so im thinking something in the common demominater the quad cortex itself.
Could the firmware of got corrupted?

If i unlink my account in cortex control i can access settings menu
But as soon as i log back in program closes as before

So, neither of your PCs is connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable? Does Cortex Control crash when they are?

Possible, I guess you could try a reset. Or, the crash could be related to Cortex Control being connected but the WiFi connection being provided by the QC instead of your computer.

Did you ever try swapping out the USB cable?

It might be worth contacting support and walking through this with them. Don’t know if it is a problem with your login, a bug being caused perhaps by the precedence rules regarding internet connectivity such that the QC’s WiFi connection isn’t playing well with Cortex Control, something particular to your settings, a cable, or something else. Keep us posted please.

yes tried swapping usb cable same issue i have sent bug reports so see if they suggest anything thanks for your time on this matter.

I have this problem as well. I have had it work twice, but every other time I go into settings on the Control application it crashes. This happens when the QC is connected through USB when powered up or if I connect it later, so the built in WiFi doesn’t seem to be the common issue there.

I’m connected to a desktop computer with wired ethernet connectivity. The app and the QC are on the latest version (it happened on the previous versions as well).

I submitted a feedback/bug form through the app about it.

OK, so I happened to discover that if I turn on a VPN, the settings open just fine.

However, my account does not display, and I can’t access anything on the cloud, which is probably a result of the VPN itself. Of course, I can access this forum and the Neural websites, but it doesn’t translate to the Control app or the QC getting any information. I can be connected to WiFi on the QC, and the Control app says I’m using the computer’s internet connection, but it has no device account link info at all. But the settings do open and the app doesn’t crash. So it’s something to do with the account settings/link or the internet connection calling that up and failing.

Sounds same as my issue are you on windows or mac?
Im guessing windows if so i wonder if any mac users are experiencing this.

Windows

After I took off the VPN, then restarted the QC and Control, the issue returned.

This issue still has not been fixed.
This was “fixed” in a previous changelog, but it has never been fixed for me. I have submitted bug reports. If I have an internet connection that isn’t a VPN, if I enter Settings, Cortex Control crashes with no error message.

Control version 1.0 with the latest firmware on the Cortex itself.

i found the new release of cortex control fixed the problem for me

Yes, I am experiencing the same things. I am on a Mac running latest Mac software and the latest versions of the QC updates… ver 1.0 It gets to the startup screen and never completes loading. Grrr.

Different issue. Update the firmware of your quad cortex. The older version of the firmware won’t load up properly in cortex control. I’m experiencing an actual crash in cortex control when trying to enter device settings.

I have the latest firmware and the latest Cortex Control. Thanks for the kind reply.

Sounds like something Neural needs to bugfix for Mac users, a networking issue on your end, or possibly an issue with just your login. Have you tried creating a new login just to test with? Total hassle but just looking for a workaround. Have you tried shutting down the WiFi connection on the QC (use the trash icon on any connections showing it)? Then connecting only through a non-VPN WiFi connection on CoCo?

Have you tried this sequence yet?

  1. Connect to VPN
  2. Open CoreCon
  3. Click your account icon (upper right) then click Unlink
  4. Quit CoreCon
4.5) If you’re paranoid like me you’ll open CoreCon again and verify it does not have you automatically signing into your account
  5. Disconnect from VPN
  6. Open CoreCon
  7. Open Settings without your account logged in.
7.5) If that works, then try logging in and opening Settings to see if that “fixed” it.
