@HonestOpinion that is a good example for wishes I would like to discuss…
Maybe it is good approach sending out the social media department or some influencers / early adopters (like Rabea, Tom Quayle or similar) to demo the things that already work.
We are actually talking about a device, that hardwarewise is close to perfection (in my opinion). It is like having all the Universal Audio quality in a ruggedized housing that fits into my Mono Tick bag. And also the usability and intuitive User Interface (including encoder footswitches!!!) is nearly incomparable on the market.
Only some major and to me important features are delayed and need to be finished in the same quality in order to keep up interest.
While I’m very happy with the QC, I did not say that Neural could not improve on some topics.
Since @winstonschroeder who started this thread is looking for potential improvements, I can give my 2 cents.
And I’m in an electronics / software company myself, so I have a lot of sympathy for the developers at Neural and the pressure they have.
In an ideal world, I believe the best thing to do would be to communicate a long-term roadmap showing which features are planned to be added at which point in time.
And then follow this roadmap as closely as possbile or at least communicate openly if something shifts.
In an agile devlopment, this could be done by communicating what’s in the backlog and what is planned for the next sprints.
However, being fully transparent also has a downside. There will always be complaints or disappointments for the user base if a feature is planned later than wished for or if something shifts. Users don’t want to be “in the dark”, but they also don’t like bad news…
Nevertheless, I think it would be an innovative approach for an innovative company to have this kind of transperancy.
my comment was not an anger type of comment, and i am not looking to point fingers to blame someone.
i fully understand that development is not easy thing, and bugs pop up unexpected .
again, that was not my point, and i think other people point as well.
my point was simply for them to communicate with us. i am not even talking about the devs need to give us future timelines for new stuff. i am talking about hear their voice in posts like this one. (and i am sorry, but giving us link to the NEWS segment every time is almost feels like they dont take us seriously )
they see this type of posts open almost every day, and yet non of them feel the responsibility to comment here and answer some basic and legitimate questions , or even calm the user base.
the main point IMO is the separation between this company (witch we all support by buying on of the expensive modulars out there) and their user base.
those are my 2 cents.
I have an opinion on this, which may or may not be NDSP’s position - I don’t want (or generally allow) my developers to be client facing. In fact, I don’t care to interact directly with clients either.
I have sales and marketing people (and in other companies I’ve worked with, sales engineers) to manage that sort of thing. That’s their job. I prefer to keep a buffer between my devs and clients.
well, that is understandable .
it was my mistake when i wrote devs instead of anyone of them who is fit and will to communicate with us.
this is not have to be so difficult , just a voice, to show they care about their customers , to answer some questions, to update us what is going great or wrong etc. but its almost feels like they hide (im not saying that is the reason)
we all here in this forum because we care about our QC, and this can bring both good or “bad” comments, but the basic of those comments come from care.
at the end of the day i am sure each and every one who comment on this post wish to see this unit thrive and successful . too bad NDSP missing the point of this type of posts.
It’s the way of an internet forum that if someone asks “Hi, I’m looking for a way to turn this square blue” that you will find a horde of people saying “OMG hilarious, why would you even WANT a blue square?” as if that was part of the question.
If you a re perfectly fine with having little information until the update arrives, that is absolutely fine.
But as others have said, some companies are more willing to share more information more frequent. And I’m not saying that it HAS to be that way. But it isn’t unheard of, it’s not hilariously out of proportion to give a proposition in this regard.
If NDSP has a problem with this kind of forum post they can handle it without customer guardians jumping in to save the day.
Everybody has a differnt viewpoint. We musicians have argued for literally DECADES on gear and will continue to do so.
Maybe you have bought the QC because you wanted to check it against other gear.
Maybe it is your first digital device.
Maybe you bought it and are perfectly happy with its current state even if there would never be another update (thats me).
Maybe you only bought it because of the promise of what it will be in the future.
Maybe you needed a specific device for a specific need.
All of these mentioned people could have a drastically different viewpoint on upcoming updates.
So again. It’s fine if you are just silently patient. But its also completely ok to ask for an update. Again and again and again.
If anything this just shows that the information on this topic is not as readily available as it could be, because then people would go there and the question posts would be fewer. Any way you look at it, even if presented in a heated way (which OPs post is NOT) any feedback is valuable.
The founders? Possibly not. I’m interested in published facts about the product, the roadmap, etc., but if I’m not working with them, the less I know about them the better, probably.
When one starts associating a product with an individual or individuals, drama tends to happen.
Doug is in the discord from time to time (not often), but plenty of the people close to him at NDSP are on here and in the discord. It’s not just random moderators with no IRL affiliation. I wouldn’t mind seeing him around more or doing Q+A or something, but honestly like @SkeletronPrime said it’s a double edged sword with respect to drama and sadly politics often as well. And it tends to lead to more threads like this where a casual comment is interpreted as a “promise” by users. As long as everything moves along according to a plan, I’ll be happy. Never meet your heroes?
Well I think the immediate release plan is obvious, but I agree in general. I was simply saying that personally interacting with Doug or any founder on the forums is not an indication of transparency or progress (or even accountability), and often just leads to more drama.
i agree, as i wrote, “it was my mistake when i wrote devs instead of anyone of them who is fit and will to communicate with us.”
they have to understand we all grown ups here, some are more upset than other but, we are here spending our time because we care.
i know there will be questions they cannot or would not answer, but at least they will start to bond with their community . (and not just the youtubers)
and yes, there might be some hard criticism they will have to face, but this is part of their responsibility to us, the customers who trusted , supported , and believe in NDSP.
sadly, none of them seems to worried about their community (as it appears to me for the last 3 months).
Sorry, man. I feel totally uncomfortable with they way you are expressing yourself.
What you are saying does too me not reflect too much in the way you express it.
Respect also means keeping one’s manners up and if you say “we have to respect you”, you cannot write that “it’s your problem” because would be the opposite.
So as a next try I ask you to be friendly to the community and also to NDSP.
Please add to the conversation and try less to escalate things.
(especially also writing things like “if you can spend hours until a Thai person answers” leaves an aftertaste)
@studiomjbmiami I’d humbly suggest that if you want to get along with people in this forum, you might try being a little less judgemental. We’re not a collective of single minded fanatics, we’re individuals who all have different opinions about the Quad Cortex, NDSP, and so on. I absolutely won’t agree with you on all topics, but it’s going to be hard to agree on any like this.
Everyone, I appreciate you trying to keep things civil and keep this thread moving in a positive direction.
That being said, please keep your posts focused on the subjects at hand and please refrain from anything considered harassment towards other members. Thanks!
Also a quite difficult humor (unless you’re actually from Ukraine). Plz don’t compare blog posts with the actual killing of people and the ruin of existences and families.
Personally, I’m glad this this didn’t drop before new year. If it had, I most certainly would have installed it, and if it were rushed with problems, I would have been SOL on the best paying gig of the year LOL. Sure, I would have tried to wait, but I know me too well. Now that I’ve slowed down a bit, I would love to get my hands on it though.
This update will be the most critical to get right IMO. They’re basically having to rewrite some serious code to implement the new file system, and I’m sure that won’t be easy. I do think that when this is done though, we’ll start seeing the bigger picture in the development.
I do admit I’d like to see more communication from NDSP, but seeing the ridicule they have got from trying, I can understand why they don’t. I can relate to one working hard to keep " promises " to overcoming circumstances beyond one’s control. Sometimes it just doesn’t happen the way one plans it.
I brought in the new year with one of the best shows I’ve ever been a part of. Sold out show, with standing room only, and my tone kicked a$$!!! lol. I can wait on the rest
