Capturing a cabinet

is it possible to make an IR with the QC or would i have to capture the cab with a power amp like i would capture an amp ?

If I’m understanding your question correctly, you’d have to use a power amp as the QC has no way of driving a speaker on it’s own. Most folks recommend using a clean, solid state amp as you want the amp to color the capture as little as possible. The idea is that you don’t want to add the sound of a tube amp on top of the amp model you’re using in your preset. That said, if you’re not concerned about authenticity and you like the sound of your AC30 preset through a capture you made, driving your cab with the power amp in your Triple Rec (i.e.), I say, why not? As in the recording world, there are no rules. Let your ears decide! Either way, you have to use some kind of power amp to make a cab capture.

Yeah i have a mooer baby bomb amp that i was thinking of using and then a sm 57

Those should do the job. You can use your mic position to adjust overall frequency balance.
