I have had my QC for a couple of months now, and I figure it is time to try and create my own captures. I want to capture just the amp so I can add my own IRs later. Enter the Captor X, right???
UGH!
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I have watched YouTube videos and searched posts on here and other forums, and I seem to be connecting things correctly, but I am not getting a capture.
Details:
I connect the Captor X according to the QC wizard that appears when you start a new capture:
- Guitar into Input 1 of the QC
- Out 1/L from the QC into my audio interface (I also tried headphones with same result)
- Capture Out on the QC to the amp input
- Right (dry) output from the Captor X to the Input 2 on the QC (XLR)
- Speaker out from the amp to the Speaker In on the Captor X
When I go to set levels on the QC Cortex Control, I can set the instrument level just fine, but the In 2 level is all noise and no amp sound at all. I tried switching the “In 2 Type” to Instrument, but then I get total silence. I switch to Mic and I get noise.
I tried the ground lift switch on the Captor X, and also the ground lift switches in the QC software. I even make sure that the QC, the amp and the Captor X were plugged into the same outlet to eliminate ground loops.
If I go ahead with the capture, I get no sound, nothing at all. I can’t hear the alien noises as the capture progresses, and once the capture is complete, I the capture is completely silent. I also hear nothing from the reference channel.
When I look at the Torpedo Remote software, I am not getting any input or output signal through the device. I tried difference cables, no difference.
I also tried testing the Torpedo by itself, and it works fine (guitar straight into the front of the amp, speaker out into the Torpedo, XLR out of the Torpedo into Audio Interface.
Soooooo… What the heck am I doing wrong??? I am going crazy!
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I can create captures using a mic on the speaker, no problem.
