Can't start free trial of plugins

I followed the installation instructions, but upon clicking “try” in the standalone app, I get prompted to activate on a physical iLok. If I quit and click “try” again, it says that I have already activated my free trial, and the license does show up in the iLok desktop app, but I can’t open the software and pass the activation screen. I’m on MacOS Big Sur with the latest version of iLok license manager and trying with the latest version of Archetype Plini and Archetype Nolly.

I’d appreciate any advice as I don’t know what else to try.
