After just updating to the latest CorOS version 3.2.0, CA John’s 2CCh2 and Ch3 amps now cause a noticeable popping/glitching sound when changing scenes. It seems to have something to do with the Gain Pull, Pres Pull and Shred settings, as the sound gets louder the more of these switches are in the On position.
These popping sounds occur on every scene change, even if literally no amp parameters change whatsoever. As long as the amp block is on, and I make a Scene change, a popping sound occurs. No instrument needs to be connected to QC.
This seems to be a new issue, as it certainly wasn’t present before updating. I made sure to test with the exact same preset as before, and also I made a brand new preset with nothing except CA John’s 2C Ch2 or Ch3 on it. Both now have the popping sound issue.
I also tried making scene changes while using other amp models, especially ones with similar On/Off parameter toggle switches, and they didn’t have any problems.
I contacted support. I truly hope that this issue can be solved soon, as this is my favorite amp. The feature seems to have broken in this update, unless I’m mistaken somehow. But it certainly was not present earlier in any of my patches.
Thanks for confirming. Neural’s customer support responded that it appears to be related to a known problem in the current CorOS version, and that they’re actively investigating it.
I don’t think they’re going to release a hotfix for this problem—it’ll probably be included in the next minor patch.
I tried several amps, but it’s hard to find a good replacement for CA John’s 2C Ch2/Ch3, since they don’t offer the Petrucci X or a Mesa Mark IIC amp yet.
I really love the drive sounds from the Mesa Mark series, but without those models, I’m not sure what to use.
Any suggestions?
