Is there a way to allow access to the “record” and “play” functions of the Looper X in a top-level stomp view, to avoid having to click into the looper. The round trip in the current approach is clumsy in any live situation. Is there a methodology of mapping the foot switches to accomplish this?
You can assign a stomp switch to the Looper so that you can open the Looper screen with your foot. Once active, the top-right foot switch (preset up) lights up, which allows you to exit the Looper screen with your foot.
The other option (without clicking into the Looper screen) would be to use MIDI commands. Around page 89 of the user manual you will see a list of MIDI commands to control the Looper (Play, Stop, Reverse, Undo, etc.). I have not personally tried these, so I can’t comment on how well they work.
I have played a little with using a MIDI loopback connection, which allows the QC to send MIDI commands to itself. With that, you could program one of the stomp switches to send the “Play” or “Record” command and start the looper. I believe that would work without having to enter the Looper screen, but I have not tried it.
Awesome suggestion - I am in the process of testing this - got a short MIDI cable for loopback and I’m confident it will work. What I’m envisioning is a “hybrid” STOMP view where two foot switches are pure “block” ON/OFF Toggles (Stomp style), four of the foot switches are MIDI Scene Change Buttons (Using the MIDI CC method), and two foot switches as LooperX Record/Dub and Play/Stop. I will let you know how it goes - I have the Reserved CC List, and will then begin the journey of finding a nice clean preset for jazz/latin fusion… More soon -
Tested this - works perfectly - I might make a video, but this method works.
Awesome, congrats!
