Audition/try Cortex Cloud presets

Hi,

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but the amount of steps it takes to try out a preset on the Cortex Cloud is holding me back on trying them.

  1. Find and open preset on the cloud
  2. Click download
  3. Go to the QC or to Cortex Control
  4. Navigate to Presets > Directory > Downloads
  5. Hit refresh
  6. Find the bloody preset in a huuuge list
  7. Open the preset

More often than not the preset is not to my liking and then I have to go back to the preset downloads, find the preset and delete it from the list to keep somewhat of an overview.

Am I doing something wrong? If not, wouldn’t it be nice if there was a button ‘AUDITION/TRY’ on Cortex Cloud that automatically downloads the preset to the QC and opens it without it appearing in the downloads list etc?

For those lucky enough with a stable WIFI connection on their QC it could be downloaded over WIFI by the QC. Otherwise Cortex Control can manage the process…

That is very similar to what I am doing. There are even more steps if you want to audition captures from the cloud because they need to be added to a preset. It will be interesting to learn if any of the experienced QC users have some tricks to make things quicker.

The one thing I try to do is keep my downloads folder fairly clear by dragging presets that seems promising into a “Maybe” setlist and quickly deleting ones that are not great. That makes it easier to see new presets popping up in the downloads folder. I do the same for captures.

Good idea to create a Maybe setlist!

It’s still annoying to have to do the whole refresh thing with all it’s latency get to that one single preset I wanted to try…

Captures are indeed even worse.

Why not a preview option on the cloud like with Tonex?

Yes i hear you, too many steps and too much work to import all to try the delete etc, it become very rapidly annoying. the thing is not friendly at all !

A preview/test is the way, i was used to this with kemper (you can load from the cloud before to test it and then improt it if you like) and i must add to all those steps that very (VERY) often there are captures or IR missing in the preset that makes it totally useless, i can’t understand how a dumb and waste of time thing like that can exist ! (a way to know that before would save some time).

These as to be totally rethinked to link the editor to the cortex cloud to load and manage presets/captures, effects etc…

There a a lot more steps to learn to play the guitar!
